Responsible for:
Oversee and ensure quality nursing care for obstetric and newborn patients, including all emergency cases
Ensure proper triage, admission, monitoring, referral, and discharge of patients
Supervise nursing care during normal delivery, assisted delivery, caesarean section, and post-operative care
Ensure compliance with national and organizational CEmONC protocols (PPH, eclampsia, sepsis, obstructed labor, neonatal resuscitation, etc.)
Ensure strict infection prevention and control (IPC) practices in labor room, OT, wards, and newborn care units
Supervise all nursing staff and ward support staff under nursing services
Prepare and manage duty rosters ensuring adequate coverage for all service areas
Provide on-the-job coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to nursing staff
Support the orientation and capacity building of newly recruited nursing staff
Coordinate with pharmacy, laboratory, blood bank, sterilization unit, and support services
Act as the focal person for nursing-related communication with facility management
Ensure accurate, complete, and timely nursing documentation and patient records
Review and validate nursing notes, medication charts, and shift handover reports
Compile and submit daily, weekly, and monthly nursing service reports
Oversee stock management of nursing supplies, medicines, and consumables
Ensure proper storage, usage, and documentation of drugs and supplies
Report stock shortages, expiries, and equipment malfunctions promptly
Ensure compliance with SOPs, clinical guidelines, and donor or organizational requirements
Support internal and external audits, assessments, and supervision visits
Identify training needs of nursing staff and support capacity-building initiatives
Participate in drills, simulations, and refresher trainings related to CEmONC services
Provide counseling and health education to patients and attendants on postnatal care, newborn care, family planning, and danger signs
Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor or senior management
Skill and Competencies:
Education and Experience:
BSc in Nursing with valid BNMC registration
Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in maternity, OT, or emergency care
Prior experience in CEmONC/EmONC or maternity hospital setting is highly desirable
Experience working with NGOs or in humanitarian or remote settings is an added advantage
Working experience in hard to reach areas for marginalized communities will add value.
Willingness to work in remote settings.
