  • At least 5-8 years of work experience with I/NGO related to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support programming and operationalisation with proven experience in technical support, proposal writing, coordination and in emergency response management systems.

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex operations in challenging contexts and excellent inter-personal and team-building skills.

  • Skilled in team management and supervision, and capacity building/coaching of national and international staffs

  • Good sense of confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.

  • Good proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required.

The Mental Health Technical Team Lead will provide day-to-day technical leadership to SAJIDA Foundation's Mental Health portfolio, ensuring that all programmes are clinically sound, evidence-based, ethically delivered, and implementation-ready at scale.

Reports to: Director Development Programmes (with technical oversight from Mental Health Technical Consultant)

Major Responsibilities

Projects/Proposal Design & Development

Coordinate the identification of mental health needs within the country context.

Ensure that interventions are aligned with global and national mental health policies, national priorities, and SAJIDA's current strategy.

Work closely with Fund Raising Department for grant/calls applications; provide technical guidance and direction as required.

Help identify and engage donors, ensuring technical discussions with donors and partners.

Implementation of feasibility studies for SAJIDA's Mental Health Program (SMHP)/Project, considering public, technical, socioeconomic, cultural, and environmental factors.

Work with other support departments (e.g., the Logistics and Finance departments etc.) to define and approve SMHP/projects.

Programme Implementation and Reporting

Ensure SMHP/projects are implemented as per the project proposals and donor timelines.

Validate key project steps, tools and methodologies, such as timelines, baseline surveys, technical studies, community approaches, and external evaluations.

Provide technical support, both directly and remotely, to Senior/Programme Managers and SMHP coordinators, while keeping the Line Manager informed of any updates or concerns.

Establish and oversee monitoring and evaluation systems, using their results to improve project performance.

Ensure timely validation of internal and donor reports, as well as project amendments, with input from the teams.

Mental Health Strategy/Policy & Planning

Provide direction of the SMHP, ensuring it aligns with the organisation's goals and the country's needs.

Provide technical guidance in identifying the needs of mental health support in the target population, analyse the context; design and propose interventions for mental health projects.

Conduct technical assessment of current mental health programs, identify gaps, challenges and best practices.

Financial Management

Supervise the development of fiscal budgets for individual programs within the mental health portfolio, ensuring alignment with overall programme goals.

Review and approve programme budgets and financial plans, ensuring they align with organisational goals and donor requirements.

Oversee the coordination of financial activities, including regular monitoring of financial reports across projects, and provide high-level oversight and strategic direction.

Technical/Clinical Support (Supervision, Training & Capacity Building, SoPs)

Leading and planning supervision mechanisms for the Mental Health Psychosocial support (MHPSS) staff across different projects; this includes clinical staffs, community mental health workers/para-counselors and caseworkers.

Oversee the implementation of standard and regular supervision and debriefing activities/sessions in order to ensure quality services.

Provide technical guidance and facilitation on community-based approaches in mental health services through developing training/supervision programmes in coordination with the Government and academia.

Mapping the training needs, areas of improvements; planning and implementing refresher trainings and continuous professional development (CPD) programs to ensure adequate capacity building activities required for the development of MHPSS resources.

Lead the MH team to develop modules and standard curriculum; ensure standard cultural validation of the contents.

Quality and Accountability of the Projects

Ensure programmes align with international standards, organisational guidelines, and SMHP technical frameworks.

Ensure adherence to national and international standards (MH Act, MH Policy, IASC, WHO) throughout the projects.

Monitor the technical quality of projects through field visits, audits, and SMHP evaluations, providing technical recommendations.

Notify the Senior Management of any major risks or challenges, and ensure recommendations or necessary adaptations are applied.

Promote both internal and external evaluations of projects, following the organisation's evaluation policies.

Promote safety measures for staff and communities during the execution of SMHP projects, working with field and organisational teams.

Partnership & Representation

Represent SMHP in building relationships with partners, NGOs, government bodies, and civil society.

Guide and support key staff in networking and coordination to build meaningful partnerships.

Oversee technical communication related to SMHP projects, in collaboration with the Senior Management.

Include SF in different professional network bodies both at home and abroad..
