Job Context:
∎ The Market Facilitator (MF) is responsible for mapping households needs for improved sanitation in designated project areas. The MC counsels and support households through the process of purchase and installing an improved latrine through household counselling sessions. In coordination with Business Development Officers MF will connect and support local service providers to provide quality services to consumers.
∎
∎ The MF is also responsible for the collection of sales, key stakeholder and some event/activity data. They will also be responsible for entering the data into the relevant databases and supporting other project staff with data entry as required. The MF will also participate in the yearly Market Systems Survey and other relevant research projects undertaken by the project team. This position is contingent upon award.
∎ Job Location : Barishal, Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangpur and Sylhet Divisions
∎ Reporting Line: Field Technical Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The responsibilities of the Market Facilitator include but are not limited to the descriptions below.
∎ General Responsibilities :
∎ Function as Market Facilitator on all project activities within an assigned district, under supervision of the Field Technical Specialist
∎ Provide strong feedback loop from key project stakeholders to project staff
∎ Programmatic Responsibilities:
∎ Develop assessment of existing resourcing ( including land, existing latrine materials, future home plan with the households
∎ Co-develop land assessment plan with the households.
∎ Provide linkages to households with Local Service Providers
∎ Educate and support households through the process of purchase and installing an improved latrine through household counselling sessions
∎ Build rapport and trust with sanitation related entrepreneurs for effective communication and linkage development
∎ Co-facilitate sanitation and hygiene product demand creation activities with sanitation and hygiene related entrepreneurs and BDOs
∎ Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning:
∎ Collect sales and profile data from all assigned stakeholders on a monthly basis as per agreed upon interval (latrine producers, dealers and other relevant stakeholders
∎ Attend training/orientation on data collection and collect data through project accepted data collection tools/platforms
∎ Build rapport and maintain good relationship with the project stakeholders
∎ Help improving record keeping skills in support of capacity building interventions of the project
∎ Co-facilitate all the field stakeholders for appropriately sales tracking and maintaining/preserving the set of data
∎ Support the project staff in entering data and ensuring high quality data
∎ Coordination and Support:
∎ Based on guidance from the Field Team Specialists and Business Development officers, support cross-program activities including:
∎ Product innovation
∎ Technology commercialization
∎ Best practices documentation
∎ Cross-project learning activities
∎ Evidence and Analytics (E&A)
∎ Maintain close contact and communication for project planning, strategy formulation and other issues with supervisor, technical specialists and institutional support teams
∎ Harmonize approach with other MFs in the program through best practice sharing and feedback loops
∎ Rapport Building:
∎ Coordinate and report to supervisor on a regular basis as per the annual coordination strategy and cross-visits
∎ Regularly travel to all assigned unions at least once for problem solving and systems development using the CLEAR framework (Connect, Listen, Educate, Ask, Resolve)
∎ Conversation with relevant supporting actors (sales agents, installers etc.)
∎ Visit Community Households for feedback collection
∎ Other Responsibilities:
∎ Actively follow and engage with Global WASH initiatives in other countries and other Bangladesh programs for stronger network connections
∎ Actively learn and develop skills related to online platforms used by iDE including but not limited to: Salesforce, Smartsheets, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets
∎ Maintain use of online platforms for sharing reports, documents and data
∎ Represent iDE at external events and meetings as agreed with supervisor
∎ Participate in all relevant meetings and workshops
∎ Undertake additional tasks subject to workload and skill sets such as photography, cross-project trainings and evaluations
Additional Requirements:
∎ Work Experience:
∎ At least 2 years of experience working on market system development in sanitation or another relevant field
∎ Must understand the technical, social, and other constraints in project areas
∎ Prior data collection and community engagement experience desirable.
∎ Programmatic Skills:
∎ Ability to responsibly manage household and stakeholder relations
∎ Ability to plan and implement iterative field level activities
∎ Good analytical and problem solving skills
∎ Personal Skills:
∎ Energetic and focused approach to counselling and mentoring
∎ Excellent interpersonal skills
∎ Self-motivated, energetic and team player
∎ Ability to work with various national and international team members and flexibility to adapt to different work conditions
∎ Ability to interact and collaborate with a broad range of public and private sector and NGO partners
∎ Physical and Language Skills:
∎ Ability to travel and undertake fieldwork in rural context
∎ Ability to drive motorcycles and having valid driving license
∎ Physical fitness required for frequent field visits and extensive travel.
∎ Written and oral communication skills in English, including ability to present coherent and convincing messages to different audiences
∎ Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail and the internet
∎ Familiarity with internet based software systems such as Google Apps
∎ Other Information and Conditions:
∎ The position would be the regular employment of iDE-B
∎ The remuneration package, work days and deliverables might be change based on negotiation among iDE management and the contract
∎ iDE reserve rights to terminate this agreement at any time with the consultation of the employee as per HR policy.
