Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Install electrical wiring, lighting, and power distribution systems on marine vessels.Set up navigation and communication equipment, including radar, GPS, and radio systems.
∎ Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance.Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults and malfunctions in various systems, including propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems.
∎ Ensure that all electrical installations comply with maritime safety regulations and standards.Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards related to electrical systems.
∎ Use diagnostic tools and equipment to test electrical systems and components.Analyze test results to determine the condition of electrical systems and identify necessary repairs or upgrades.
∎ Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, maintenance activities, and repairs.Prepare reports on the status of electrical systems and any issues encountered during inspections or repairs.
∎ Work closely with other engineering and technical staff, including mechanical engineers and shipbuilders, to ensure integrated systems functionality.Collaborate with ship crew members to provide training and guidance on the operation of electrical systems.
∎ Respond to electrical emergencies on board, such as power outages or equipment failures, and implement corrective actions.Participate in emergency drills and safety training related to electrical systems.
