∎ Bachelor's/Master's degree in Textile Engineering, Material Science, or related field.

Requirements:

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 10 years of experience in material development, with a focus on textiles.
∎ In-depth knowledge of textile materials, technologies, and trends.
∎ Strong supplier network and negotiation skills.
∎ Excellent project management and leadership abilities.
∎ Familiarity with sustainability practices in textile development.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify material requirements and specifications.
∎ Source and evaluate textiles and fabrics from suppliers, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
∎ Lead material development initiatives to meet product requirements and performance standards.
∎ Define parameters for the organization's testing criteria.
∎ Build Fabric Technical Data sheet - covering Yarn, Fabric, finishing.
∎ Expand the raw material sourcing base
∎ Drive material risk assessment at development / bulk stage by analyzing problems and implementing solutions
∎ Work closely with development and technical teams on fabric testing and QA
∎ Excellent time management skills and supply chain management
∎ Create structure in place for merchandisers for booking fabrics for on time sampling and shipment
∎ Source and manage high volume of fabric .
∎ Conduct research on emerging textile technologies and materials.
∎ Establish and maintain strong relationships with textile suppliers and manufacturers.
∎ Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to optimize material costs.
∎ Manage material development projects from concept to implementation.
∎ Oversee quality control and testing processes for textile materials (fabrics).
∎ Monitor industry trends and market conditions to inform material selection and development.
∎ Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure materials meet design and production specifications.
∎ Implement sustainable and ethical material sourcing practices.
∎ Maintain documentation of material specifications and supplier information.
∎ Provide material recommendations and insights to support product innovation.
∎ We are seeking an experienced Manager, Material Development (Textile) to lead our efforts in sourcing, developing, and optimizing textiles and fabrics. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of textiles and fabrics, strong supplier relationships, and the ability to drive innovation in material development.
