Position Overview:
The Manager, Grants Finance is responsible for providing strategic financial management of donor-funded projects (preferred for EU fund management), ensuring strong financial planning, accurate reporting, compliance with donor regulations, and effective coordination between program and finance teams. The role ensures that grants are managed efficiently, risks are minimized, and donor funds are utilized in line with contractual obligations and organizational policies.
Preferred Job Description/Responsibility
A. Financial Planning & Budget Management
Lead the development of grant budgets, budget narratives, and financial forecasts for new proposals and ongoing projects.
Review partner and program budgets to ensure accuracy, eligibility, and alignment with donor requirements.
Monitor budget performance, conduct monthly budget vs. actual (BVA) analysis, and advise program teams on corrective actions.
B. Grant Financial Management
Ensure timely preparation of financial reports for donors, government authorities, and internal stakeholders.
Oversee grant spending, fund allocations, and cost-share tracking.
Maintain grant financial files, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
C. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with donor rules (e.g., EU, UN agencies, DFAT, FCDO, etc.) and organizational financial policies.
Conduct periodic compliance reviews of partners and field offices.
Mitigate financial risks through strong internal controls and regular grant review meetings.
D. Partner Management
Review and approve sub-grantee budgets, financial reports, and liquidation documents.
Conduct financial capacity assessments and provide ongoing support and training to implementing partners.
Ensure partner spending is compliant and supported with adequate documentation.
