Responsibilities & Context:

1. Laboratory Operations Management


• Oversee daily operations of the laboratory including sample collection, processing, testing, and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs, biosafety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain quality assurance programs to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Monitor laboratory information systems (LIS) for proper workflow and data management.


2. Quality Assurance & Compliance


• Implement and monitor ISO/NABL/CAP or equivalent quality standards.
• Conduct internal quality control (IQC) and participate in external quality assurance (EQA) programs.
• Ensure calibration, validation, and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
• Prepare for and coordinate external audits, inspections, and accreditations.


3. Resource & Inventory Management


• Plan and monitor procurement of reagents, consumables, and laboratory supplies.
• Ensure cost-effective utilization of resources while avoiding stock-outs and wastage.
• Maintain vendor relationships and evaluate suppliers for reliability and compliance.


4. Team Leadership & Training


• Lead and supervise pathologists, technologists, phlebotomists, and support staff.
• Conduct regular training on SOPs, safety protocols, and new laboratory techniques.
• Manage staff schedules, performance appraisals, and professional development.


5. Patient Care & Service Excellence


• Ensure timely delivery of accurate and error-free reports.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals for integrated patient care.
• Address patient queries, complaints, and ensure high service satisfaction.


6. Research, Innovation & Development


• Introduce new diagnostic tests, methods, and technologies aligned with market demand.
• Support clinical research and academic collaborations where applicable.
