Education: - Diploma in Medical Technology
- Diploma in Medical Technology (lab) from Government-recognized institution. Candidates having State Medical Faculty of Bangladesh (SMFB) accreditation will get preference.
Requirements: Skills Required: Additional Requirements: - At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a pathological laboratory in a healthcare facility/ NGO is preferred.
- Previous experience of working in NGO preferably in a hard to reach area.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols.
- Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards.
- Good communication skill and basic computer skill.
- Ability to work under pressure in a hard to reach area.
Responsibilities & Context: Responsible for:
- Ensure care & maintenance of all the lab instruments & equipment.
- Carrying out regular & emergency lab procedures.
- Ensure availability of all related reagents & logistics of the laboratory, ensure proper storage and usage of equipment & consumables.
- Review stock & initiate requisition for laboratory activities.
- Documentation of all lab activities.
- Keep service records and prepare monthly report.
- Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
- Attend all training and ensure knowledge dissemination to assistant.
- Ensuring collection, processing, and handling of all biological specimens according to IPCD.
- Counsel the patients on the sample collection process.
- Conducts blood tests for transfusion purposes; may draw blood from patient's finger, ear lobe, or vein observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples.
Activities:
- Conducting and supporting scientific investigations and experiments.
- Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests in the areas of hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis, as assigned; conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid; performs blood counts using microscope.
- Develops and maintains cell/tissue cultures for testing purposes, as appropriate; isolates and identifies specimens, using advanced laboratory techniques.
- Performs quality control on test results, ensuring validity and accuracy.
- Performs calibration and troubleshooting on testing systems and instruments to ensure adherence to established standards of accuracy.
- Keeps records and reports on results according to established procedures.
- Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Planning, setting up, and undertaking controlled experiments and trials.
- Recording and analyzing data, and demonstrating procedures. Collecting, preparing, and/or testing samples
- Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning, and testing the sterility of the equipment
- Providing technical support and presenting results to senior staff.
- Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
- Supervising staff, carrying out risk assessments, ordering and maintaining stock and resources.
