Job Responsibilities:
∎ 1. Lesson Planning: Create lesson plans that include a variety of activities, materials, and assessments to cater to the needs and proficiency levels of students. Lesson plans should cover grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
∎ 2. Instruction: Teach students how to read, write, speak, and understand Japanese. This involves explaining grammar rules, vocabulary, pronunciation, and cultural nuances.
∎ 3. Cultural Education: Introduce students to Japanese culture, customs, traditions, and etiquette, which are often closely tied to the language.
∎ 4. Assessment and Grading: Evaluate students' progress through assignments, quizzes, tests, and other assessments. Provide constructive feedback and assign grades as necessary.
∎ 5. Individualized Support: Provide additional help and support to students who may be struggling with the language. Tailor instruction to meet the individual needs of learners.
∎ 6. Classroom Management: Maintain a well-organized and respectful classroom environment, ensuring that students are engaged and attentive.
∎ 7. Resource Selection: Choose appropriate textbooks, teaching materials, and technology to support effective language instruction.
∎ 8. Cultural Immersion: Encourage and facilitate opportunities for students to immerse themselves in Japanese culture, such as by organizing field trips, cultural events, or language exchanges.
∎ 9. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and administrators to address concerns, provide updates on student progress, and collaborate with colleagues.
∎ 10. Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest teaching methodologies, language trends, and cultural developments through workshops, conferences, and self-study.
∎ 11. Assist with Proficiency Testing: Prepare students for standardized language proficiency exams such as the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and assist with exam registration and practice.
∎ 12. Counseling: Offer guidance and advice to students regarding their language learning goals and career prospects related to Japanese language skills.
∎ 13. Record Keeping: Keep records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant data, and submit necessary reports to school administration.
∎ 14. Professionalism: Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students and colleagues, and adhere to the code of ethics for teachers.
∎ 15. Language Proficiency: Maintain and enhance one's own proficiency in the Japanese language to be an effective instructor.
∎ 16. Classroom Technology: Integrate technology and digital resources into teaching, such as online learning platforms, language apps, and multimedia materials.
