Job Context:
∎ Introduction: Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS) is offering opportunities to students interested in gaining real world work experience by working as full time Interns in its Eye Care Program (ECP) located at Banani, Dhaka with programs in various districts of the country.
∎ Organizational Background: MSS is a premier Bangladeshi non-governmental organization formed in 1974 by a group of students of Dhaka Residential Model School and later of the University of Dhaka when the country was hit by a massive flood. MSS started as a relief agency which later reoriented its focus on poverty alleviation through microcredit and development. Currently, MSS programs are integrated and include poverty alleviation through microcredit, healthcare, childcare, primary education, among others, with the goal to establish a society free from poverty where there is equality among citizens and citizens’ rights and dignity are respected.
∎ MSS, equipped with its experience in providing eye care services in Bangladesh is implementing its Eye Care Program (ECP-MSS) with the aim to identify and treat preventable blindness among the underprivileged; to promote community awareness and education on eye health; and to increase capacity and access to eye care services.
∎ ECP-MSS is expanding its activities. Ambitious targets have been set for 2022-2023. Multiple post-graduate students will be given opportunity to work as intern in ECP-MSS. To reach our target we need additional human resources to support our core staff. Interns, will constitute an integral part of the team. They will carry out a range of support tasks to implement eye care activities successfully.
∎ Duration of interns’ appointment and working hour: ECP-MSS will appoint interns in two duration modes. The duration modes are: (a) Short Term: 3-6 months, (b) Long Term: 7 - 12 months. Working hour: Saturday to Thursday from 10AM to 6.00PM (Maybe relaxed for academic exigencies)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Objectives:
∎ Offer opportunities to students to gain real world experience
∎ Provide training and experiential learning opportunities for development of relevant work skills
∎ Provide a professional working environment that encourages and gives space to the professional identity development and development of professional competence
∎ To enhance community participation in the Eye Care activities.
∎ Roles and Responsibilities of interns:
∎ Internship is a support role for the core staff. The duties of internships include entry level office based and outreach tasks, such as:
∎ Office based roles: Data entry, filing, sorting through documents, processing mail, simple spreadsheet work, photo editing, photocopying, drafting report, attending meetings, media briefings and other organizational events etc.
∎ Outside office roles: Interns will support ECP staff and partners implement its outreach program activities such as Eye Camps, School Sight Testing Program (SSTP), Industrial Sight Testing Program (ISTP), Healthy Eyes for Road Safety (HERS) program, Noyon Tori (mobile eye clinic) program, data collection and necessary communication with stakeholders
∎ Organization will prepare a specific Job Description for the graduate’s interns.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 18 years

∎ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bangla
∎ Self-directed and able to work without supervision
∎ Honest, Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
∎ No experience needed but working experience an advantage

Salary:
∎ This is a paid, full time internship. Considering the transportation and daily meal cost organization offers an amount of BDT. 8000.00 remuneration per month

Women’s Credit Program (WCP), the flagship program of MSS is operating with nearly 230,000 members through 154 branches in 124 upazillas and thanas of 17 districts all over the country.
