Job Context:
∎ The IRC’s Protection and Rule of Law (PRoL) program in Bangladesh helps to restore the dignity of individuals by providing them with a voice to claim their rights and entitlements, supporting them to seek remedies for their claims, and empowering them to hold justice institutions—informal or formal—to account.
∎ ‘Information is power’ – to claim rights and entitlements and restore individuals’ dignity. Information is the key in any context, which is essential in the emergency and refugee context. The IRC is collecting, verifying, and analyzing client-oriented and protection concerning information, creating awareness and providing information through its innovative Signpost program, a two-way communication approach to provide responsive and accessible information to humanitarian communities, refugees, asylum seekers, and crisis-affected communities around the world.
∎ Aligned with the IRC’s innovative Signpost program two-way communication approach, the IRC in Bangladesh program will take a holistic approach to address information needs in refugee camps and host communities. The two-way communication approach is a useful responsive information service/resource for people in need; it fosters more in-depth community engagement, trust, and, most importantly, utility for its users.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Collaborate with the Editorial Manager, Senior Information Officer, and the frontline staff team to acquire required information, analyze, and prepare to disseminate and responsively provide to the clients through client-oriented and protection concerns related to community awareness (in the host and refugee community).
∎ Response to the questions/queries/feedback received at the information hub or from households through online/offline information platforms (containing articles and service maps) and Communication with Communities guidelines with the help of experts team and moderation.
∎ Analyze information gaps amongst communities (host and refugee populations) to feed into future content creation.
∎ Regularly update provided information services and clients’ details in the IRC database system and follow up systematically.
∎ Provide feedback on (and translate noteworthy questions into English if required) and write an analysis (including responses to individual questions, trends in conversation, and information gaps) as per the guidance and reporting format.
∎ Assist in producing weekly/monthly/quarterly reports and other project progress reports, i.e., success stories.
∎ Share opinions, feedback, cultural awareness, contextual knowledge, and learning with the wider team on an ongoing basis, and conduct local level advocacy.
∎ Keep up to date with all the new information put out on an ongoing basis and attend regular training as required.
∎ Assist in conducting community based protection and protection monitoring activities (FGD, KII, Household Survey, Observation).
∎ Assist team in Individual Protection Assistance (IPA) and emergency response, i.e., PERU.
∎ Facilitate different capacity building initiatives for the CBP, volunteers, community leaders, and service providers.
∎ Support team in monthly and project completion reports and needs assessment approval.
∎ Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 19 to 60 years
∎ Ability to process conducting information need gap assessments in various sectors to inform appropriate intervention and response to people’s queries.
∎ Ability to deliver information and collect feedback from communities on information needs
∎ Ability to update provided information services and clients’ details in the IRC MEAL software
∎ Ability to produce weekly/monthly/quarterly reports and other project progress reports (success stories) of high quality
∎ Ability to support the protection activities of IRC
∎ Effective coordination and collaboration with IRC internal sectors and other partners
∎ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications
∎ An understanding of the power and importance of accurate information and the ability to exercise excellent judgment in ensuring all answers are accurate
∎ Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time
∎ Strong analytic problem-solving skills
∎ Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional team
∎ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
∎ A team player
∎ Fantastic attention to detail
∎ Strong computer proficiency and well-acquainted with basic software tools - navigate autonomously in Windows, Android, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs.
∎ Good communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Bengali
∎ People who have sound knowledge of the Chittagonian dialect and culture will get a preference
