Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Supervise the delivery, distribution, and implementation of Health and Hygiene interventions in project areas.
∎ Conduct need assessment, find out the appropriate area of intervention and assist Project Coordinator to finalize these.
∎ Document and report on conducted activities to ensure that needs assessed are being effectively responded to and that interventions are being documented.
∎ Mobilize, motivate and encourage potential leaders to talk to their fellow community members about good hygiene practices.
∎ Monitor the health and hygiene issues within target communities through spot checks and assessments.
∎ Develop trust, tolerance and co-operation among community members.
∎ Report areas of concern to the Project Manager.
∎ Collaborate with a number of other agencies, including local authorities and international aid workers during the implementation of Health and Hygiene programs.
∎ Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to Project Manager on project progress against work plan.
∎ Document and share lessons learned with the Project Manager, local community members, and local stakeholders.
∎ A minimum of bachelor’s degree in any subject
∎ 2-3 years of practical work experience in humanitarian operation and/WaSH and preferably bachelor Degree with 1-2 year experience.
∎ Experience in local community and within an NGO context.
∎ Excellent organizational and time management skills.
∎ Oral communication skills in English is preferred.
∎ Proven ability to build capacity of partners/ stakeholders through formal trainings and informal job shadowing and mentoring.
∎ Ability to monitor quality work of project-hired contractors.
∎ Ensure record keeping of received materials of tube-well and latrine construction.
∎ Good interpersonal skills.
∎ Must have cross-cultural sensitivity, problem solving and negotiation skills.
∎ Ability to cope and work under pressure.
∎ Has strong knowledge about NFI distribution and procedure.
∎ Job Context:
∎ To provide effective and quality delivery of Health and Hygiene (including WASH) project activities; to daily coordinate with project beneficiaries to support their needs; to supervise project-hired contractors; to actively promote good hygiene practices among the project beneficiaries. The Health and Hygiene Officer will ensure proper implementation of project activities at the field level and actively work to ensure that the project beneficiaries' water, sanitation, and hygiene needs are effectively being met.
