Job Context:
∎ A Reputed Group of Companies is looking for "Head of Legal & Land". The Head of Legal & Land will report to Board of Director of the organization.
∎ Reporting: Board of Director.
∎ The Head of Legal & Land will report to the Board of Director of the organization. The incumbent will be responsible to oversee and handle all legal & land functions, provide legal advice as & when required. In this context, we need responsible, dedicated, self-motivated, and proactive professional who has experience to handle legal & land activities in a large renowned organization.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Legal (70%):
∎ Lead and oversee legal functions including determining objectives, designing & implementing systems, policies & procedures to facilitate internal control; ensuring all legal activities are in compliance with the Law of the Land.
∎ Provide accurate legal advice to management to ensure that decisions taken are legally correct and that the company's interests are protected.
∎ Possess practicing capabilities at premium courts & handling all legal disputes & litigation, coordinating with the external counsels, assisting in drafting of petitions, writs, suits, appearing in the courts on behalf of the company and undertaking the strategy aspects of litigation.
∎ Maintain liaison with external authorities like Government & Non-Government authorities; External counsels/lawyers; third party vendors and suppliers for legal matters.
∎ Land (30%):
∎ Lead and oversee functions of Land, its Legal management, Litigation (Civil/ Criminal/ Corporate) Co-ordination and Managing External legal counsel, Contract Management, legal operations.
∎ Supervise business units in interpretation of laws with respect to land, construction, real estate and environment applicable to the business.
∎ Negotiate, drafting of appeals & suits, written statements, reply rejoinders of various cases and coordinate relating to the land issue.
∎ Maintain liaison with external authorities like Government & Non-Government authorities; External counsels/lawyers for land related matters.
∎ Check, verify and provide opinion on all kinds of Land related vetting, (Title Deed, Baya Deed, Khatians, Dags, DCRs of CS, SA, RS, BS, commissioning etc.)
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 12 to 15 year(s) of relevant work experience and having ample experience in Legal & Land functions in a large conglomerate of Bangladesh.
∎ Knowledge on Contract Act, Civil Act, Power of Attorney Act, Transfer & Registration of Properties related Act and others.
∎ Good Liaison / Communication Skill with Govt. & Non- Govt. personnel / Officers.
∎ Possess modern and contemporary administrative management skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
∎ Strong drafting and vetting skills.
∎ Analyzing and Advising on Legal Risk Management.
∎ Good communication & interpersonal skills.
∎ Excellent writing skills both in English & Bangla.
∎ Experience in Court matters is preferable.
∎ Membership of the High Court Bar is preferred.
