Additional Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in ecosystem restoration, livelihood or community-based projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of mangrove plantation, integrated farming and aquaculture
  • Proven experience in community mobilization, stakeholder coordination and capacity building
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data documentation
  • Ability to work independently and travel frequently within the project areas
  • Fluency in Bengali and working knowledge of English


Responsibilities & Context:

Responsible for:

  • Conduct community consultations to ensure participation and ownership of project interventions.
  • Coordinate with Union Parishad, Forest Department, Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Departments for joint implementation.
  • Facilitate the formation and strengthening of women, youth and Polder Management Committees.
  • Ensure smooth communication and collaboration among communities, local institutions and project stakeholders.
  • Organize and facilitate training/refresher sessions on alternative income generation, climate-smart agriculture and youth entrepreneurship.
  • Lead the distribution of alternative livelihood items (e.g., livestock, duck, seeds, vegetables).
  • Implement demonstrations on saline-tolerant crops, integrated farming, organic pest management and soil fertility improvement.
  • Support sustainable aquaculture and integrated farming pilot initiatives.
  • Conduct capacity-building sessions on mangrove seed collection, nursery establishment, plantation and caretaker mobilization.
  • Coordinate land selection and local government engagement for mangrove plantation and land leasing.
  • Manage field-level budget planning and supervision for mangrove plantation and ecosystem restoration activities.
  • Conduct women and youth skill development sessions and promote alternative livelihood opportunities.
  • Support community-based seed and nursery development for sustainable plantation management.
  • Support in conducting baseline, endline, need assessment and other research or evaluation studies.
  • Maintain accurate data, progress reports and success stories on livelihood and ecosystem activities.
  • Provide regular field updates and feedback to the Project Officer and sector team.
  • Support the finance team to ensure proper documentation and timely payment for labor and vendors.
  • Fill up monitoring checklists and update the Site Order Book regularly.
  • Report technical and social challenges to the Project Officer promptly.
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Project Officer or Sector Specialist.

Activities:

  • Community mobilization and awareness on ecosystem restoration and livelihood improvement
  • Training/refresher on Alternative Livelihood, Climate Smart Agriculture and Youth Entrepreneurship
  • Distribution of alternative livelihood items (livestock, seeds, materials)
  • Demonstration of saline-tolerant crops, organic pest management and integrated farming models
  • Sustainable aquaculture and integrated farming pilots
  • Training for local masons on environment-friendly construction techniques
  • Mangrove seed collection, nursery establishment and plantation
  • Land selection and leasing coordination for mangrove plantation
  • Capacity building on seed and nursery management for community groups
  • Women and youth skill development sessions and livelihood support
  • Agriculture land protection from salinity and cross-drain line-up with canals
  • Coordination with Forest, Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and local government departments
  • Support to organize baseline, endline and research studies
  • Regular documentation, progress reporting and success story collection
