Responsibilities & Context:
A reputed and rapidly growing group of companies in Bangladesh, engaged in large-scale tiles and ceramic manufacturing, is seeking a dynamic and result-oriented Factory Operations Manager / Senior Manager.
The role is critical for ensuring efficient plant operations, optimum production output, and adherence to international quality standards. The incumbent will lead end-to-end factory operations including production, maintenance, quality control, supply chain coordination, and workforce management.
This position requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in ceramic/tiles manufacturing processes (e.g., kiln operation, glazing, pressing, polishing), along with a proven ability to drive operational excellence, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production & Plant Operations
Oversee the entire tiles manufacturing process (raw material to finished goods).
Ensure production targets are met in terms of quantity, quality, and delivery timelines.
Monitor plant performance and ensure maximum capacity utilization.
2. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
Implement Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma initiatives.
Identify inefficiencies, reduce wastage, and improve yield.
Drive automation and process innovation where applicable.
3. Quality Management
Ensure compliance with national and international quality standards.
Collaborate with QA/QC teams to maintain consistent product quality.
Analyze defects and implement corrective/preventive actions.
4. Maintenance & Engineering Oversight
Supervise preventive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery.
Ensure minimal downtime and high equipment reliability.
Coordinate with engineering teams for technical upgrades.
5. Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with Bangladesh Labor Law and EHS standards.
Promote workplace safety and conduct regular safety drills and audits.
Maintain proper documentation for compliance and inspections.
6. Supply Chain & Inventory Coordination
Ensure uninterrupted availability of raw materials (clay, glaze, chemicals, etc.).
Work closely with procurement and warehouse teams.
Monitor inventory levels and minimize excess or shortages.
7. Leadership & People Management
Lead and manage a large workforce including engineers, supervisors, and operators.
Develop team capabilities through training and performance management.
Ensure discipline, productivity, and employee engagement at the factory.
8. Budgeting & Cost Efficiency
Prepare and manage factory operational budgets.
Monitor cost per unit and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Provide regular reports to top management on operational and financial performance.
