Responsibilities & Context:
  • Conduct environmental assessments (IEE, EIA, ESIA, EMP) in compliance with national (DoE) and international (ADB, WB, JICA) environmental standards and guidelines.

  • Review and interpret project designs to assess potential environmental impacts and recommend necessary mitigation measures.

  • Ensure integration of environmental safeguards into project planning, design, and implementation phases.

  • Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with environmental management plans (EMP) and relevant environmental regulations.

  • Prepare and review environmental reports, including screening reports, environmental monitoring reports (EMR), and compliance audits.

  • Liaise with relevant government authorities (e.g., Department of Environment - DoE), project stakeholders, and donor agencies regarding environmental clearance and approvals.

  • Support the preparation of environmental safeguard documents required by funding agencies (e.g., ADB SPS 2009, WB ESF).

  • Conduct site visits to identify sensitive environmental areas and monitor contractor performance related to environmental issues.

  • Organize environmental consultation meetings, training, and capacity-building programs for contractors, project staff, and local stakeholders.

  • Assist in developing climate-resilient, nature-based solutions and support sustainable practices in project implementation.

  • Keep updated with changes in national environmental laws, policies, and international best practices.
