Job Responsibilities:
∎ Rapidly grow organic search referrals across designated digital vertical
∎ Spearhead SEO optimization and content creation for one editorial vertical
∎ Coordinate with managing editor and broader editorial team to plan SEO-first content for major events, breaking news, and evergreen content
∎ Support editorial teams with SEO-first content creation in breaking news scenarios
∎ Perform keyword research to identify gaps and opportunities, work with internal stakeholders to edit/produce as needed.
∎ Attend daily editorial meetings, suggest SEO-first stories and support content optimization for daily news: headlines, backlinks, images, and more.
∎ Develop content promotion plan/strategy, lead execution process, and report on the results.
∎ Source and pitch trending stories with SEO potential
∎ Spearhead on-going vertical-specific content initiatives to tackle larger keywords and stories over time
∎ Integrate SEO best practices with editorial calendars, social calendars, and business priorities
∎ Work within the audience development team to ensure promotion and distribution of relevant SEO articles and pages
∎ Keyword research and selections for key daily events, tentpoles, and evergreen content
∎ Write, update and edit content based on SEO opportunities.
∎ Provide weekly/ monthly reporting on search results
Additional Requirements:
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Experience capitalizing on SEO in a breaking news environment
∎ Experience covering news at a high-performance level and a desire to become a part of an integrated audience-first editorial team
∎ Basic understanding of technical SEO and familiarity with major search engine publications
∎ Excellent planning and coordination skills and the ability to fairly and consistently direct editors towards the appropriate keywords
∎ Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate keyword optimization ideas to individual editors
∎ Keyword research skills to leverage around major events, daily news, and evergreen content
Salary: Negotiable
