Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE), Textile Engineering, Apparel Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline from a reputed university.
Additional certification or training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, GSD, or similar will be an added advantage.
Proven experience leading IE for multiple units or large-scale factories, including knit and woven operations if possible.
Strong track record of improving efficiency, reducing cost, and implementing lean systems.Experience working with international buyers and their productivity and compliance expectations
Expert-level knowledge of work study, method engineering, time study, SAM / SMV development, and line balancing.
Strong command of lean tools and productivity improvement methodologies.
Good knowledge of sewing machinery, attachments, and automation technology.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into action.
Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced), IE software, and ERP systems.
Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills in Bangla and English.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple units and priorities.
A reputed and fast-growing knitwear and garment manufacturing group in Bangladesh, serving leading international buyers, is seeking a highly experienced and technically strong professional for the position of DGM / GM, Industrial Engineering (IE) at its Narayanganj facility. The incumbent will lead the entire Industrial Engineering function across all units, driving productivity, efficiency, cost reduction, and process excellence. The role demands a very deep understanding of IE, including work study, method engineering, SAM and SMV development, line balancing, layout planning, capacity analysis, and lean tools. The ideal candidate is a senior IE leader who can set standards, build a strong IE team, and turn engineering data into measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and delivery.
IE Leadership and Strategy
Lead the Industrial Engineering department across all units and set the IE vision, standards, and annual improvement targets.
Develop and implement IE policies, SOPs, and standard practices for work study, method development, and line management.
Act as a key advisor to top management on productivity, capacity, manpower, machinery, and cost-saving decisions.
Define IE KPIs such as line efficiency, SAM achievement, manpower utilization, and cost per minute, and review them regularly with unit heads.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement and data-based decision making across the factory.
Work Study, Method, and SAM / SMV
Oversee time study, motion study, and method study for all styles and operations.
Ensure accurate development and approval of SAM / SMV for every style using standard systems such as GSD, PMTS, or time study.
Prepare detailed operation breakdowns (OB), machine and attachment requirements, and skill grading for every style.
Develop optimized sewing methods, folders, guides, and attachments to improve efficiency and quality.
Maintain a central SAM and operation database for all products and update it continuously.
Line Setup, Balancing, and Efficiency
Guide style changeover, line layout, and line balancing to achieve target efficiency from day one.
Monitor hourly and daily production, efficiency, and WIP, and take quick corrective actions to remove bottlenecks.
Analyze operator performance, skill matrix, and learning curve, and recommend training and placement.
Reduce non-value-added time through waste elimination, motion improvement, and workstation design.
Set and track efficiency targets by style, line, and unit, and drive consistent achievement.
Capacity, Planning Support, and Costing Support
Provide accurate SAM-based capacity calculation to Planning and Merchandising for order booking and line loading.
Support the Central Planning team with realistic efficiency, manpower, and machine requirement data for every order.
Support Costing with accurate SMV and CM (cut and make) inputs for quotations and pricing.
Analyze actual versus planned manpower, machines, and output, and highlight gaps early.
Layout, Machinery, and Technology
Plan factory and floor layouts for new lines, new units, and expansions to ensure smooth material and workflow.
Evaluate and recommend machinery, automation, and technology (special machines, sewing automation, ERP and IE software) based on cost-benefit analysis.
Monitor machine utilization and downtime, and work with Maintenance to improve availability.
Lead layout and workflow studies for cutting, sewing, finishing, and packing sections.
Lean, Productivity, and Cost Reduction
Implement lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, standard work, and one-piece flow.
Lead productivity improvement projects with clear targets, timelines, and financial impact.
Identify and reduce manufacturing wastes, including overproduction, waiting, rework, and excess movement.
Support the reduction of rework, defects, and overtime through better methods and line control.
Track and report savings from IE projects to management.
Quality, Compliance, and Reporting
Work with Quality and Production teams to improve right-first-time performance through method and process improvement.
Ensure IE practices follow buyer standards and compliance requirements, including workload and overtime limits.
Prepare regular IE performance reports and present findings and recommendations to top management.
Team Leadership and Development
Lead, train, and mentor the IE team including Managers, Engineers, and Executives across all units.
Build IE capability through structured training in work study, SAM development, line balancing, and lean tools.
Coordinate closely with Production, Planning, Merchandising, Quality, Maintenance, and HR for smooth operations.
Perform any other duties assigned by management from time to time.
