Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Construction Supervisor will be responsible for implementation of day to day activities and operations at specific Camps under the guidance & supervision of the Civil Engineer. The post will play an oversight role in their assigned centers in Camps or Host Community programme. It will specifically be responsible for coordinating cash for work scheme and infrastructure work with the support of volunteers and engineers. This will include supporting the Civil Engineer and other technical staff in overall programme execution of site improvement. He/she will also follow up on emerging issues at center levels and address the concerns. S/he will regularly feed in data to Civil engineer & Project Manager to plan project activities.
∎ Key outcomes & Responsibilities:
∎ Establishment of effective monitoring system and strengthen programme implementation of activities in camps.
∎ Support in need assessments on regular basis to plan camp activities.
∎ Oversee day to day on the ground coordination and ensured quality service delivery for cash for work scheme.
∎ Effective operational, maintenance and management of volunteers assigned to them.
∎ Contribute to and support Civil Engineer in the preparation of key planning activities on site improvement at the camp or Host Community.
∎ Support preparation of activities work plans including programme schedules/cycles, outreach plans, launches as required.
∎ Ensure communities and volunteers comply by set work plans, schedules and meet targets.
∎ Organized and facilitated community consultation meeting at camp or Host Community and prepared CFW participant list and take necessary approval from site management and CIC as per the project plan.
∎ Support engineer for conduct technical assessment and identified schemes.
∎ Communication with site management & CIC and participate the camp coordination meeting as required.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Essential:
∎ Able to demonstrate knowledge, understanding, experience and practice of humanitarian values and principles and able to motivate others to achieve results in complex situations without much supervision
∎ At least 1-2 years of experience in Humanitarian programme
∎ Demonstrated understanding of the phases of humanitarian response including preparedness and contingency, Disaster Risk Reduction, response and recovery
∎ Experience of implementing day to day camp activities and working closely with communities
∎ Ability to understand the needs of the communities and safeguarding their interests
∎ Ability to take into account the needs, skills, capacities and experience of crisis-affected people and apply these in the response
∎ Experience in needs assessment
∎ Knowledge of Core Humanitarian Standards, Sphere and Red Cross Code of Conduct, and HAP
∎ Understanding of own role and that of Christian Aid and others within the humanitarian system
∎ Demonstrate an understanding of coordination mechanisms
∎ Other:
∎ Knowledge of capacity building tools and techniques
∎ Good understanding of construction work and meeting the needs of the camp population
∎ Relevant experience of field management and supervision
∎ Demonstrated understanding of UN/NGO security coordination and how to fit into it
∎ Desirable: Diploma in Civil Engineering
