∎ Minimum 3-5 years of experience in community development, disaster management, or related fields.
∎ Prior experience in conducting PRAs, FGDs, and community mobilization activities.
∎ Prior experience in conducting surveys using online based tools e.g KoBo, ODK, mWater etc.
∎ Strong communication, facilitation abilities.
∎ Understanding of sustainable livelihoods, Agriculture, risk assessment, and disaster response.
∎ Gender-sensitive and inclusive approach in community engagement.
∎ Ability to work in remote locations and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
∎ Basic computer literacy with demonstrated skill in using data survey applications.
∎ Good communication skills in Bangla and basic proficiency in English.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, and organizations.
∎ Conduct regular community visits to understand needs, concerns, and aspirations.
∎ Foster trust and collaboration within the community to support project initiatives.
∎ Facilitate awareness and training sessions on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate-induced migration, WASH, and climate-resilient livelihoods.
∎ Promote gender-sensitive approaches throughout all project activities and ensure the active involvement of women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
∎ Strengthen community-led governance mechanisms to ensure transparency, accountability, and social cohesion.
∎ Promote multi-stakeholder engagement with local government, civil society organizations, private sector actors, and community groups.
∎ Support the implementation of both on-farm and off-farm climate-smart livelihood interventions.
∎ Provide guidance on climate-smart agriculture practices, including water-efficient irrigation and integrated pest management.
∎ Facilitate training for farmers and local service providers on sustainable agricultural practices.
∎ Support communities in adapting to climate-resilient livelihoods through participatory risk assessments and vulnerability mapping.
∎ Educate communities on disaster preparedness and climate risk management strategies.

∎ Collect case studies, success stories, and quality monitoring data from the field.
∎ Contribute to the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports.

∎ Abide by the staff’s management policy and accounts management policy of the organization.
∎ Submission of weekly/monthly activity plans and reports.
∎ Maintain and fulfill movement registers for field visits properly.

∎ Maintain tour forms properly and submit them after tours with vouchers.

∎ Uttaran is a national development organization working in the coastal region of Bangladesh since 1985 to uphold rights and entitlements and to improve the socio-economic condition of the poor and disadvantaged. Uttaran facilitates in getting access to and control over resources by the poor and disadvantaged to improve agricultural productivity and economic empowerment.
∎ Uttaran with technical support from HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Bangladesh will collaborate to implement the “Actions to Climate Change Ensuring Sustainable Solutions (ACCESS) Project” in the southwestern coastal region of Bangladesh. This partnership aims to enhance capacities in adaptation, disaster risk management, climate-induced migration, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), livelihood, soil, and food security through mutual capacity-strengthening programs and knowledge-sharing activities. Together, they will explore, pilot, and disseminate innovative technologies and methodologies while engaging in advocacy efforts to promote their adoption.
∎ Uttaran invites applications for the position titled Community Development Officer for the Actions to Climate Change Ensuring Sustainable Solutions (ACCESS) project. As a Community Development Officer, he/she will play a key role in mobilizing communities, strengthening local capacities, and facilitating sustainable climate-resilient solutions. He/she will work closely with vulnerable and marginalized groups, ensuring inclusive participation and promoting sustainable livelihood practices.
