Educational Requirements:
∎ Advanced degree in Mass Communication and Journalism, English or similar relevant field.
∎ Minimum of five (5) years of communications experience including regular communications duties in English, or an equivalent combination of applied research/advanced academic work in a relevant subject matter.
∎ Well conversant about the branding and marking guidelines of USAID and Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO)
∎ Professional communications experience, ideally providing strategic communications for international development programs, preferably under USAID projects.
∎ Experience in developing and implementing communications strategies.
∎ Good understanding of Bangladesh's political environment and current social development goals and issues.
∎ Demonstrated ability to collaborate and coordinate activities with multiple stakeholders including government, civil society and private sector entities, including experience establishing cross-sectoral partnerships, and civil society networks
∎ Strong training, presentation and communication skills
∎ Advance level of oral and written fluency in Bangla and English required; other minority language knowledge preferred
∎ Demonstrated leadership, supervisory and organizational skills.
∎ Working experience with media is a plus

Job Context:
∎ Counterpart International is seeking a Communications Specialist for its USAID-funded program in Bangladesh Promoting Advocacy and Rights (PAR). This is a full time position based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and requires excellent English language skills. This position will report to the Senior Program Specialist. The PAR program supports the creation of a more inclusive, resilient, and evidence-driven Bangladeshi civil society. The project`s goal is to provide civil society with the skills, technology, financial resources, and connections to global networks that will enable it to work in partnership with the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) to advance good governance. The Communications Specialist will play a key role in producing project documents, success stories, press releases and others in English and Bangla.
∎ The Communications Specialist supports all program activities and produces a wide range of project documents to promote the project`s work. Coordinates with partners and grantees and supports them in developing activity reports, presentations and press materials. Contributes to PAR and local partner monitoring & evaluation and learning efforts. As someone deeply involved and knowledgeable about all PAR program activities, the Communications Specialist will work closely with other PAR and headquarters staff, local and national media and civil society organizations to promote program activities and to support local partners in public outreach, public relations, and effective media communications and relations. S/he will be responsible for preparing regular program reports, press releases, success stories, and other materials.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support outreach and engagement of local implementing partners.
∎ Contribute to the development of annual work plans, program performance monitoring systems and tools, and writing of progress reports, weekly highlights, quarterly and final program reports.
∎ Develop, implement and evaluate the program's Strategic Communications Plan in partnership with PAR team.
∎ Archive programmatic pictures/photos for program reporting
∎ Provide technical assistance and guidance to civil society organizations to support their public outreach, public relations and media communications and relations.
∎ Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all program deliverables, including print and electronic communications materials, program reports, press releases, and success stories.
∎ Ensure compliance with branding and marking guidelines of USAID and Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) for program materials.
∎ Develop and produce print and digital communications materials tied to program objectives and reform efforts that are sensitive to local political, social and cultural realities.
∎ Working with COP/DCOP, prepare materials for high-level visitors, including: scene setters, trip itineraries, photographs, event agendas, success stories, press releases and reports, and video presentations of the project.
∎ Contribute to the development and operation of the Advocacy Toolbox website to provide general information and reporting on project activities.
∎ Work closely with Young Power in Social Action to populate the Advocacy Toolbox
∎ Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Program Specialist or his/her designee that is consistent with the overall focus of this position.
∎ Manage all media contacts.
