• Ensure that all news content is optimized for search engine rankings and social media sharing.

• Develop and implement the publication`s vision, mission, and goals.

• Develop and maintain the editorial calendar.

• Oversee the staff and freelance writers, including assigning stories and editing content.

• Research, develop, and write content.

• Participate in meetings to discuss ideas and strategies.·         Collaborate with other departments to ensure the publication meets its goals.

• Develop and maintain relationships with sources and vendors.

• Ensure that content is accurate, timely, and of the highest quality.

• Monitor industry trends and new developments in the field.

• Stay informed on legal and ethical issues related to journalism.

• Work with the Head of News to set and maintain editorial standards and guidelines.

• Monitor news trends and competitor coverage to ensure that our news content remains relevant and unique.

• Making final decisions about which stories, articles and photographs to publish.

• Attending meetings with the publisher or publication board to discuss issues and plans for the publication.

• Any other responsibilities as per management requirements.
