Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Oversee and perform routine and non‑routine chemical analyses of water samples (raw, treated, and distribution) to ensure compliance with national drinking water standards and internal quality benchmarks.
∎ Collaborate with plant operators to fine‑tune coagulation, flocculation, filtration, and disinfection processes—adjusting chemical dosages (e.g., alum, chlorine) to maximize treatment efficiency, minimize costs, and reduce environmental impact.
∎ Lead small‑scale trials of novel treatment additives or alternative disinfection methods (e.g., UV, ozone) to address emerging contaminants and improve overall water quality.
∎ Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) regulations, WHO drinking water guidelines, and related ISO/BSTI standards; prepare compliance reports and liaise with regulatory bodies during audits and inspections.
∎ Enforce strict laboratory and plant safety protocols for handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals; contribute to Uttaran’s environmental sustainability goals by recommending best practices for chemical use and sludge management.
∎ Develop, validate, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), test methods, and data logs; generate weekly and monthly performance reports that guide management decisions and public transparency.
∎ Train and mentor junior lab staff and plant operators on proper sampling techniques, analytical methods, and safety procedures to build in‑house expertise and ensure operational continuity.
∎ Support Uttaran Paani’s outreach programs by participating in community workshops, explaining water quality parameters, and addressing stakeholder concerns to foster trust and awareness about safe water practices.
∎ Work closely with project managers, field engineers, and external consultants to integrate chemical testing insights into broader water supply initiatives, ensuring that technical findings translate into reliable service delivery.
