Education:
    • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm)
    • Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) is mandatory.
  • A Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or Marketing is highly preferred.
  • Additional certification in Supply Chain or Category Management is a plus.

Job Knowledge:

  • Expert knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, including therapeutic classes, drug regulations, and market dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of category management principles, merchandising, and retail pharmacy operations.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and financial analysis.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, BI software) for forecasting and performance analysis.
  • Strong financial acumen for margin analysis, budgeting, and P&L management for the category.
  • Proficiency in using inventory and ERP systems.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze complex data to make strategic decisions about product assortment and pricing.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, productive relationships with key suppliers.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams (marketing, sales, supply chain) to execute category plans.


Responsibilities & Context:
  • Develop and execute the category strategy for a defined portfolio of pharmaceutical products (e.g., chronic care, OTC, wellness).

  • Conduct thorough market analysis, monitor industry trends, and analyze customer data to identify assortment gaps and new product opportunities.

  • Manage supplier relationships, including negotiation of terms, pricing, and contracts to achieve optimal cost of goods and favorable payment terms.

  • Define and implement pricing strategies to remain competitive in the market while achieving margin targets.

  • Plan and execute promotional campaigns and category-specific marketing initiatives to drive sales and customer acquisition.

  • Collaborate with the inventory and supply chain teams to forecast demand and ensure optimal stock levels, minimizing out-of-stocks and excess inventory.

  • Analyze category performance using key metrics (e.g., sales, margin, sell-through, inventory turnover) and present insights to senior management.

  • Ensure all products within the category comply with relevant regulatory standards.
