• Industrial Technical Institute Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering Technology, with a focus on machining or mill maintenance.

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Roll Technician specifically in a section/structural mill, bar mill, or rod mill. Experience in a Block Mill is a significant advantage.

• Expert-level skill in operating roll grinding and lathe machines.

• In-depth knowledge of roll materials (forged steel, cast iron, tungsten carbide), roll profiles, and bearing systems used in rolling mills.

• Proficiency in using advanced precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial bore gauges, profilometers).

We, authorized representative of Libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISCO) - A leading steel company in Libya, are seeking highly skilled professionals with 5+ years of experience in steel manufacturing, particularly in block and rolling mill operations (experience in Bangladesh or abroad preferred).

Open positions for 1 technician - Block Mill Roll Maintenance Technician with competitive salary packages and benefits.

Responsibilities:

1. Roll Changing & Installation:

   • Execute the safe and efficient removal and installation of work rolls, backup rolls, and guide rolls from the mill stands according to the production schedule.

   • Perform precise alignment of roll chocks, bearings, and couplings using dial indicators, lasers, and other precision tools.

   • Ensure proper fitting of all seals, housings, and water cooling systems.

2. Roll Grinding & Preparation:

   • Operate roll grinding machines to recondition rolls to specified diameters, tolerances, and surface finishes as per engineering drawings.

   • Measure roll profiles, dimensions, and surface conditions using micrometers, profile gauges, and surface testers.

   • Inspect rolls for defects such as cracks, spalls, or excessive wear and report findings.

3. Assembly & Repair:

   • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble roll assemblies, including chocks, bearings (tapered roller bearings, fluid film bearings), seals, and labyrinth rings.

   • Perform bearing fits, clearances, and preload adjustments to manufacturer specifications.

   • Troubleshoot issues related to roll vibration, marking, or premature failure.

4. Preventive Maintenance & Record Keeping:

   • Conduct scheduled inspections and maintenance on roll shop equipment (cranes, grinding machines, lathes).

   • Maintain accurate logs of roll history, including grind cycles, installations, tonnage rolled, and wear patterns.

   • Manage the roll inventory, tracking the status (in service, in shop, ready for use) of each roll set.

5. Safety & Compliance:

   • Rigorously follow all LISCO safety procedures, especially for heavy lifting (using proper slings and rigging), working with rotating machinery, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).

   • Adhere to quality control standards to ensure rolls meet precise dimensional and surface requirements.

   • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the roll shop and mill floor.
