Responsibilities & Context:

We are looking for a Backend Developer who genuinely loves software engineering, backend architecture, and building systems that are reliable, secure, scalable, and cleanly designed.

We are building digital infrastructure for the capital markets, including client onboarding, trading-related workflows, portfolio data, fund management, account services, integrations, internal operations, and future financial technology products. This is not a generic software role. The systems we build will support real users, real money, real market data, and regulated financial workflows.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving difficult backend problems, thinks deeply about system design, and takes pride in writing code that other engineers can trust.

Key Responsibilities

The Backend Developer will be responsible for:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining backend services for financial services and capital market applications.

• Building secure APIs for web, mobile, internal dashboards, and third-party integrations.

• Working with databases, authentication systems, user account management, transaction records, portfolio data, and reporting workflows.

• Supporting integrations with payment gateways, KYC/verification services, trading-related systems, market data sources, and internal back-office platforms.

• Writing clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable backend code.

• Ensuring backend systems are secure, reliable, and scalable as user numbers grow.

• Working closely with frontend developers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, product owners, and business teams.

• Helping translate capital market business requirements into technical architecture and backend logic.

• Participating in code reviews, debugging, deployment support, and continuous improvement of the software development process.

• Contributing, where required, to selected software projects outside the financial services domain.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates should have strong knowledge of:

• Backend development using Node.js, Laravel/PHP, Python, Java, Go, or similar backend technologies.

• RESTful API design and integration.

• Database design and optimization using MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, or similar technologies.

• Authentication, authorization, OTP systems, session management, and role-based access control.

• Secure coding practices, especially for financial applications.

• Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows.

• Error handling, logging, monitoring, and debugging production systems.

• Basic cloud/server deployment concepts, CI/CD, and Linux server environments.

• Writing scalable backend logic for data-heavy applications.

Capital Markets and Financial Technology Skills

Because this role sits within the capital markets industry, the candidate should either already understand or be highly willing to learn:

• Brokerage and trading workflows.

• Client account opening and BO account processes.

• KYC, AML, document verification, and approval workflows.

• Portfolio holdings, order history, trade details, fund balances, and settlement-related data.

• Market data, stock information, reporting, and transaction records.

• Security and audit requirements for systems handling client financial information.

• High reliability expectations for platforms used by investors, traders, and internal operations teams.

Prior experience in Fintech, Banking, Brokerage, Payments, ERP, Trading systems, Capital market platforms, or financial data systems will be considered a strong advantage.
