Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Economics, Social Science, Development Studies.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in health insurance, microinsurance, social protection, or community-based development projects.
Experience working with low-income urban communities will be an added advantage.
Strong skills in community mobilization, documentation, data management, and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
Good understanding of health service delivery systems, insurance operations, or financial inclusion approaches.
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and database systems.
Strong communication skills in Bangla and English.
The Associate Project Officer – Health & Life Insurance Scheme will support the effective implementation of the health and life insurance components under the Urban Poor Health & Social Protection Initiative. The position will assist in planning, coordination, beneficiary enrollment, claim facilitation, partner liaison, monitoring, reporting, and community engagement to ensure that vulnerable households can access affordable and quality insurance services. The role requires strong operational skills, field coordination abilities, documentation capacity, and a commitment to improving financial protection and health security for low-income urban communities.
Major Responsibilities:
Support the implementation of the health and life insurance scheme in alignment with project objectives, donor expectations, and organizational policies.
Coordinate with community groups, insurance agencies, health service providers, and local authorities to ensure smooth service delivery.
Assist the Project Manager in maintaining quality, timeliness, and efficiency of insurance-related activities.
Ensure effective beneficiary communication, awareness, and grievance redress mechanisms.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
1. Planning and Implementation:
Assist in developing monthly and quarterly work plans for insurance enrollment, premium collection, claim support, and partner coordination.
Support community meetings, orientation sessions, and awareness campaigns on health and life insurance benefits and procedures.
Facilitate beneficiary identification, verification, and enrollment in collaboration with field teams and community facilitators.
Maintain coordination with finance and administration teams to support premium processing, vendor payments, and documentation.
2. Beneficiary Support and Service Facilitation:
Guide beneficiaries through the insurance enrollment process, ensuring understanding of coverage, terms, and claim requirements.
Assist families in submitting claims, collecting documentation, and liaising with insurance institutions for timely settlement.
Maintain a help-desk function (field or office-based) for responding to beneficiary queries and complaints.
Track service utilization trends and identify bottlenecks affecting community access to healthcare or claim benefits.
3. Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation:
Monitor field-level progress of insurance enrollment and claim processing.
Maintain updated databases of beneficiaries, premiums, claims, and partner interactions.
Prepare monthly and quarterly progress updates highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
Document case studies, success stories, and learning notes for donor communication and internal use.
Ensure accurate records are maintained for audit readiness and compliance.
4. Stakeholder Coordination:
Act as a supporting liaison between the project and insurance providers, clinics/hospitals, community groups, and local authorities.
Coordinate field visits, joint reviews, and community feedback mechanisms with partners.
Support the organization of awareness sessions, health camps, or outreach events related to insurance services.
Promote partnerships that enhance affordability, coverage, and service quality for the urban poor.
5. Capacity Building and Team Management:
Support training and orientation of field staff and community volunteers on insurance scheme processes.
Participate in team meetings, contribute to problem-solving discussions, and share learning from field experiences.
Provide operational support to senior staff during planning, partner meetings, and donor visits.
6. Other Responsibilities:
Undertake frequent field visits to monitor activities and interact with beneficiaries.
