Responsibilities & Context:

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring advocacy activities and the successful implementation of the Government demonstration project under the “Friendship Disability Inclusion Development Programme.” 

  • Responsible for identifying advocacy issues and developing advocacy action plans with different relevant stakeholders as per the project target.

  • Responsible for follow-up advocacy progress and review plan as needed

  • Responsible to liaison with government bodies, NGOs, institutions, and other stakeholders, arrange different level advocacy meetings at the district, Upazila, and community levels.  

  • Responsible for organizing different levels of advocacy meetings, workshops, and seminars.

  • Responsible for facilitating advocacy awareness sessions with self-help groups (Persons with disabilities/caregivers), community leaders, youth groups, etc.  

  • Responsible for developing advocacy Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) material 

  • Ability of systematic follow-up

  • Problem-solving and identifying problems before they become major issues.

  • Responsible for preparing monthly/quarterly/annual work plans and monthly accomplishment reports.

  • Responsible for any assigned work as per advice by the concerned authority.

  • Access to emergency services, including a swift, affordable, and effective referral system.

  • Any kind of task complete which provided by HO or higher management.

Patient care issues:

  • Need to show empathy to the patient

  • Need to explain all the procedures and treatment to the patient.

  • Need to spend more time with patients and give motivational speeches.

Skill and Competencies:

Educational Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in development studies/ disability management/ social sciences/ Relevant fields

Additional Job Requirements:

  • 2/3 years of job experience on persons with disabilities issues, e.g. CBR process, Sign language, etc.

  • Experience of working with government entities e.g., Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Directorate of Primary Education (DPE), Department of Social Service (DSS), and other relevant government entities. 

  • Understanding the importance of advocacy, communication, and proper documentation. 

  • Knowledge of persons with disabilities’ rights and safeguarding issues in Bangladesh.

  • Substantial working knowledge providing technical support on Inclusive Education to promote and ensure quality education for children with disabilities.  

  • Experience in working with donor funded projects and donor compliance, negotiation and influencing skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of persons with disabilities rights and protection act 2013 gender, social inclusion, PSEA and code of conducts to ensuring a smooth transition into this role with the relevant academic knowledge.

  • Should have a proven record of leadership, team-building, cultural sensitivity, and diplomacy

  • Working knowledge of English and ability of report writing

  • Working experience with computers

  • Previous experience of working in the char and islands areas and knowledge of local languages will be a definite advantage
