∎ The Protibesh project is funded by USAID which focuses on three result areas including i) Strengthening environmental governance and management; ii) Mitigating biodiversity threats and iii) Advancement of market-based incentives that promote sustainable natural resources management under the Development Objective "Strengthened Resilience to Natural Hazards. Activity goal of the Protibesh is to improve ecosystem conservation in and around targeted key biodiversity areas of Bangladesh such as northeast haor areas and southwest Sundarbans. CNRS will be engaged in implementing project activities at the ground level with the technical support of Chemonics International.
∎ Job Location: CNRS Head Office in Dhaka.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support wetlands and associated fisheries at the national, regional, and local levels
∎ Provide support on wetlands conservation and management, including freshwater fisheries in haors and beels
∎ Support reviews of management plans
∎ Support RIMS, FRSS, and SMART
∎ Liaise with government counterparts including Department of Fisheries and Department of Land
∎ Provide support
∎ Illustrative activities:
∎ Maintain regular dialogue with DoF at both national & local level and MoL on the value of biological conservation, promote rest periods and track and disseminate the impact of fishery Co-Management and the wetland leasing policy;
∎ Assist the process of conducting a wider-level (e.g. Haor) review of management plans, identify needs for (and facilitate agreement) CBOs e.g. Resources Management Organizations, Village Conservation Groups on wetland sanctuaries management and promote wise use principles;
∎ Provide technical input in the rapid assessment of Village Conservation Forums (VCFs) and People's Forums (PFs) to identify management weakness and opportunities;
∎ Provide technical inputs in designing and delivering customized skill trainings with CMO/ CMC (Co-Management Organization/ Council) members on leadership development, negotiation, conflict resolution and visibility;
∎ Development of modules and facilitate particular training sessions of GoB stakeholders to assess the overall effectiveness of pro-environmental wetlands management;
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum of seven years of experience in natural resources management, including wetlands management and conservation. Existing rapport with DoF will be an added advantage. Strong knowledge of English required.
∎ Having excellent understanding of existing country policies, rules and acts related to fisheries and wetlands.
∎ Strong ability in working with GoB systems.
∎ Good communication, facilitation and motivational skills.
∎ Understanding on local culture and languages.
∎ Skill in training module development, documentation, reporting in English.
∎ Abilities to undertake extensive travel to region/site level.
∎ Ability to work under pressure.
∎ Ability to work under multi-sect oral / multi-disciplined team approach
∎ Having non-discriminatory and gender sensitive perception
∎ To protect children in connection
∎ Willingness and ability to drive motorcycle in the field as and when required and should have valid driving license
∎ Efficient computer literacy (especially in MS Office applications)
