Job Responsibilities:
∎ The consultant will undertake the following tasks:
∎ Transcribe Bangla interviews in Bangla.
∎ Translate Bangla transcripts to English.
∎ Transcribe English interviews in English.
∎ Provide basic copy-editing assistance on transcripts and translations.
∎ Clearly lay out the transcripts and translations in an organized way and file them properly
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 20 to 50 years
∎ At least a bachelor's degree in social sciences or language.
∎ Must have carried out transcription and/or translation for research purposes in the past.
∎ Good experience with Microsoft Office.
∎ Must have professional proficiency in both Bangla and English.
∎ Must be well-versed with common Bangla dialects used in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.
Salary:
∎ The consultant will be contracted to complete the stated tasks in not more than 65 days. They will be provided remuneration at the rate of:
(1) BDT 2000 for transcription of one-hour interview. If the interview exceeds one hour, payment will be pro-rated.
(2) BDT 650 for 500 words for translation of Bangla transcripts to English.
These rates cover the time spent in basic copy-editing and organizing the files. This payment is inclusive of all taxes and transfer charges. 3ie will not additionally bear these costs.
