Job Context:
∎ HOPE Foundation for Women and Children of Bangladesh was established in 1999 as a non-profit organization for providing quality health care services to the poor and underserved people in Bangladesh. The HOPE is uniquely poised and dedicated to serving the needs that has made a significant impact in improving maternal and child health in Bangladesh. HOPE has the trust of the community and diligently works in collaboration with government and NGO partners towards systematic long-term changes in health sector of Bangladesh.
∎ The Technical Officer-MHPSS is responsible to support smooth implementation of the Lifting Healthy, Empowered and Protected Girls and Women in Cox’s Bazar (LEAP) project. Plan International Bangladesh is the lead of this consortium project with HOPE Foundation for Women and Children of Bangladesh (HOPE) and some other NGOs working in Cox’s Bazar which funded by the Global Affairs Canada (GAC). LEAP will employ a comprehensive, integrated programmatic approach by engaging a variety of stakeholders and facilitating gender- and adolescent-responsive and inclusive (GARI), Sextual and Reproductive Health and Right (SRHR), Sextual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services by strengthening government health systems, including establishing/strengthening referral linkages (from community to health facilities and between different sectors) to bring transformative change among the most at-risk adolescent girls and young women in host communities and camps.
∎ The Technical Officer-MHPSS is responsible to support smooth implementation of the MHPSS related technical support of Lifting Healthy, Empowered and Protected Girls and Women in Cox’s Bazar (LEAP) project.
∎ The Technical Officer-MHPSS will ensure the quality of mental health and psychosocial related trainings delivered by Plan International Bangladesh for its partners in order to increase the capacity of PNGO staff. She will be responsible to support the design and implementation of the MHPSS trainings at the mental health centres, primary health care centres as well as at the Community-Based Organizations (CBOs).
∎ S/he is responsible to implement quality MHPSS programme at field level, maintain documentation of project’s learning and good practices at field level. Maintain sound working relationship with different stakeholders and partner organizations for better quality implementation of MHPSS services.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ TO-Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer maintain strict compliance with safety, confidentiality, and do no harm principles.
∎ Provide direct individual mental health and psychosocial support to persons of concern.
∎ Assist with the identification of persons in need of MHPSS support.
∎ Conduct basic mental health assessments using the various assessment tools and establish a base-line for care.
∎ Collaboratively develop an individualized care plan for persons of concern to support the development/maintenance of healthy coping mechanisms and achievement of psychosocial goals.
∎ Conduct regular follow up sessions to provide ongoing support according to the established care plan and adjust to meet the person’s developing needs
∎ Facilitate timely, appropriate, and confidential referrals to specialized mental health care or other needed services.
∎ Adapt existing interventions and develop innovative approaches to supporting persons of concern together with the MHPSS Technical Team.
∎ Represent PIB at coordination meetings related to MHPSS, including the MHPSS Working Group and relevant sub-cluster meetings at camps and Upazila level.
∎ Provides appropriate technical guidance and support to PNGO staff.
∎ Ensures that the project activities are implemented according to internal quality and technical standards.
∎ Conduct awareness and information sessions on psychosocial and mental health issues to reduce stigma and increase access to support for MHPSS needs including substance use and survivors of violence.
∎ Explore the causes of psychosocial stresses among the target population; at the individual level, family, and community level through focus groups and individual interviews.
∎ Regularly report status and challenge updates to technical team to enable sector level advocacy and problem-solving if needed.
∎ Close collaboration with MHPSS Technical Team for technical guidance and capacity building and any other tasks assigned by management, etc.
∎ Support in developing MHPSS Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials for stigma and stress reduction and the promotion of help-seeking; ensure the integration of MHPSS themes into the IEC materials of other sectors within the mobile unit.
∎ Submit data required for monthly reports and updates as required

Additional Requirements:
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ At least 3 years’ experience in the development field along with 1 year of experience in SRHR, GBV and MHPSS.
∎ Proven track record in humanitarian context and providing technical assistance in MHPSS.
∎ Able to work collaboratively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
∎ Analytical Skills, Communication skill, Computer skill, Data Collection, planning skills are required.
∎ Good working relationships with colleagues, partners, external actors and allies.
∎ Conversant in common IT applications (MS word, MS power point, internet browsing & e-mail communications)

Salary: Tk. 50000 - 55000 (Monthly)
