∎ Suchana: Suchana- ending the cycle of malnutrition in Bangladesh, is a multi-sectoral nutrition programme aims to achieve significant reduction in stunting amongst children under two years of age in Bangladesh. The programme adopts an integrated graduation model to nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions to prevent chronic malnutrition within the critical 1,000 days from conception to until a child reaches its second birthday. Suchana consortium includes: technical partners - Save the Children (SC), Hellen Keller International (HKI), WorldFish, International Development Enterprises (iDE); implementing partners - Centre for Natural Resources Studies (CNRS), Friends in Village Development in Bangladesh (FIVDB), Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Service (RDRS); and research partner - icddr,b.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Part I: Job Statement
∎ Under the overall guidance and coordination of Manager- Advocacy and technical direction from the technical partners/program leads, the position Technical Officer of Suchana Programme will support Suchana program management in his/her capacity in the areas of implementation, follow-up, advocacy, coordination to replicate best practices of Suchana in her/his assigned upazilas. S/he will work in close coordination with the respective GoB departments (BADC, DAE, DAM, DDM, DLS, DoF, DWA, DSS, BWDB, and others), Union Parishad and private sectors as directed by Manager- Advocacy as well as guided by the technical partners and program leads in support of implementing their replication plans and relevant technical and governance activities. He will also work closely with the Technical Officer- Nutrition, notably for developing multisectoral nutrition action plan and relevant advocacy activities as well as for better coordination in the upazilas. This position will ensure quality services to internal and external stakeholders in line with the Suchana Program's SOP and other Policies and Procedures.
∎ Part II: Job Responsibilities and Tasks
∎ A. Planning, implementation, monitoring/follow-up, management, coordination, and advocacy, linkage building at upazila, union and village level - 60%
∎ Support the technical and program leads in providing program information and advocacy of collaboration with relevant government departments, UP and private sector stakeholders.
∎ Together with the respective GoB department and/or private sector (PS), select target farmers/ stakeholders at union/village level for demonstrations of Suchana best practices.
∎ Establish homestead food production (HFP) joint demo farm (horticulture, livestock, fisheries) on agricultural good practices and/or advocacy interventions for target community or GoB/PS.
∎ Conduct farmers/staff training as per plan together with the trainers/facilitators from respective GoB department (e.g., SAAO, DLS & DoF field staff) and/or private sector/network.
∎ Provide technical assistance/support in field implementation to establish joint demonstration farms/activities in collaboration with GoB local offices and private sector/networks as applied.
∎ Facilitate formation/reformation of UDMC following Govt. standing orders on disaster (SOD).
∎ Monitor the flood situation and assist to develop situation report and maintain liaison with Bangladesh Water Development Board.
∎ As directed by the Manager- Advocacy and replication plan, organize meeting/workshop, farmer field day etc. at the field level to review progress of the activities and report accordingly.
∎ Frequently monitor the field activities through field visits and provide necessary technical and advocacy guidance to the farmers as and when required (one to one coaching).
∎ Ensure all program implementation as per the work plans.
∎ B. Coordination and networking (external and internal) - 30%
∎ Establish effective networks with the relevant field level GoB departments, private sector, NGOs, and other like-minded organizations, and facilitate/re-activate existing coordination platforms to ensure effective delivery of programme interventions in a coordinated and coherent manner.
∎ Attend upazila/field level coordination meeting organize by the relevant GoB departments or private sector/network and lead the discussion on Suchana replication issues as required.
∎ Regularly liaison & advocate with UPs, the relevant GoB departments and private sectors/service providers' network to keep their attention on the issue of Suchana best practices replication.
∎ Keep close coordinate with technical and program leads of Suchana consortium partners on planning and execution of GoB collaboration.
∎ C. Reporting: 10%
∎ Collect progress information from the field, document and share with his/her manager.
∎ Prepare report of field implementation on regular basis and submit to Manager- Advocacy.
∎ D. General
∎ Ready to work in any natural disaster or emergency situation anywhere in Bangladesh.
∎ Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Working Experience: at least 4 years' technical experience of program implementation in livelihoods sector (horticulture, fisheries, livestock, etc. including market linkages). Experience to work in nutrition project/field will be considered as an added qualification.
∎ Skills:
∎ Skill in providing hands on technical (by doing practical works) support at farmer/beneficiary level at the field. Interpersonal skill to deal with the GoB counterparts (officials and field staff). Good in report writing and appropriate computer proficiency in MS Office.
∎ Knowledge:
∎ Sound knowledge on Bangladesh political, environmental, and social context, nutrition and livelihood situation and challenges especially in his/her upazilas. Technical knowledge on nutrition, food security, agriculture and other livelihood components is essential.
∎ Attitudes:
∎ Works well with teams
∎ Conscious of child protection issues
∎ Non-discriminatory and gender sensitive
∎ Willingness to work in remote, rural locations.
∎ Good communication, Facilitation and motivational skill.
∎ Understanding of local cultural languages.

∎ Ability to work under pressure.
∎ Willingness and ability to drive bi-cycle to undertake extensive travel in the field as and when required
Salary:
∎ BDT 40,000/month (inclusive all)
