Responsibilities & Context:

Responsible for:

  • Assisting the Technical Consultant/Advisor/Director in matters relating to short- and long-term Strategic Planning of Friendship and administration of the Fleet Management Department.
  • Acting and assisting in a subordinate capacity to the Senior Fleet Engineer/Fleet Engineer/Assistant Fleet Engineer of Friendship on all administrative and record keeping aspects of the floating hospital ships.
  • Responsible to maintain all technical records and reports of the floating hospital ships in liaison with Fleet Management Department personnel.

Activities: 

  • He will be responsible and accountable to the Technical Consultant/Advisor/Director and/or the Head of Department of Fleet Management in HO for his duties and performance.
  • He shall assist the Technical Consultant/Advisor/Director in all matters relating to Class and other surveys and inspections of the GoB/Department of Shipping/Mercantile Marine for all the floating hospital ships of Friendship and maintain records of surveys/inspection and their statements, certificates, due dates etc. and related works as assigned to him.
  • He shall directly assist the Technical Consultant/Advisor/Director in matters relating to the short- and long-term Strategic Plan of Friendship in respect of the Fleet Management Department and shall be responsible for the inputs relating to the Strategic Plan Reporting of the Department for review and submission by the Technical Consultant/Advisor/Director.
  • He shall be responsible to keep the Technical Consultant/Advisor/Director and the Head of Department of Fleet Management informed about the status of surveys and forthcoming surveys/inspections at least 03 months prior the due dates of the survey/inspection
  • When required, he shall carry out Technical Inspection of the hospital ships and the respective associated ancillary boats and report to his superiors by filling out the technical inspection report.
  • If required, he shall attend the floating hospital ships of Friendship for any kind of emergency situation, major breakdown/s or repair, docking, renovation etc. as directed or delegated by his superiors in the Department
  • He shall maintain liaison with Administrator and/or Master of all the floating hospital ships of Friendship regarding Administration of the ship and in matters relating to Fleet staff leave, supply of stores, spares, fuel, lubricants etc. for the ships.
  • He shall maintain forms for reporting on machinery performance, running hours, repair, engine log abstract etc. and shall carry out analysis of performance, costs etc. and shall make amendments to reporting forms etc. as required and shall also report to superiors when abnormality and/or anomaly is observed.
  • He shall maintain records for all fuel and lubricating oil supply, consumption etc. and shall carry out consumption trend analysis and to report to superiors when abnormality and/or anomaly is observed.
  • He shall receive monthly requisitions in prescribed form/s from ships for supply of fuel and lubricating oils and forward the same to Senior Fleet Engineer/Fleet Engineer/Assistant Fleet Engineer with recommendations for supply for review and approval
  • He shall receive requisitions from ships for all periodical consumable stores, spares and equipment in prescribed form/s and recommend quantities to be supplied and forward these to his superior/s for approval
  • He shall liaise with the Supply & Procurement Department for timely and correct supply of requisitioned items and shall maintain records of supply and receipt by respective ship
  • He shall keep records of each individual PR issued against each ship by the Fleet Management Department and the costs incurred for spares, stores etc. against each individual PR for reasons of budgetary control and review
  • He shall assist the Supply & Procurement Department for the purchase of specialized item of store/spare/equipment for the ships when required
  • ·      He shall maintain leave records of Administrator, Master, Engineer/Driver, Electrician of all the floating hospital ships of Friendship and shall deal with leave requests in consultation with his superiors
  • He shall review the six-monthly inventory of consumable stores, spares etc. conducted by the Administrator and shall maintain records of the same and shall report any abnormality and/or anomaly to his superior/s
  • He shall maintain the Department’s files relating to the ships and the Fleet Management Dept. and shall file all documents & certificates in respective files ensuring traceability of filed documents
  • If delegated, he shall periodically monitor condition, performance and operability of all trawlers, speed boats, river ambulance, outboard engines etc. of all the floating hospital ships of Friendship and shall report the same to superior/s
  • He can be delegated to undertake any other additional duty as required or directed by the relevant higher authority appropriate to his competency or grade and can be transferred from one position to another as per operational requirement or convenience of Friendship/Fleet Management Department in a post appropriate to his competency or grade.
  • He will always be required to observe and uphold Friendship’s Code of Ethics, Policies & Guidelines, Rules & Regulations, Personnel & Confidentiality Policies.
