Responsibilities & Context:
Knowledge of the Subject
To have strong knowledge of the assigned subject area
To stay updated with current developments, research and teaching methodologies relevant to the subject
To demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written
Regardless of the teaching subject, English communication skills are mandatory, and all teachers are required to always communicate in English during duty hours.
Teaching
To plan and prepare lessons appropriately for assigned classes
To conduct classes effectively at scheduled times
To implement the designated curriculum within the required timeframe
To maintain effective classroom management and discipline
To create an engaging and student-centered learning environment
To encourage critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and independent learning
To adapt teaching strategies according to students’ learning styles, strengths and needs
To integrate technology, practical activities and collaborative learning where applicable
To encourage participation, responsibility and teamwork among students
To maintain safety and proper supervision of students inside and outside the classroom/activity areas
Assessment
To communicate learning expectations clearly to students
To apply fair and effective assessment methods
To assign and review classwork, homework, projects and practical work as required
To evaluate students’ performance objectively and in a timely manner
To maintain accurate academic records and submit reports on time
To use assessment outcomes to improve teaching and student performance
Professionalism
To maintain positive, respectful and professional relationships with parents/guardians and communicate effectively regarding students’ academic progress, behavior and overall development
To be punctual and maintain regular attendance during official working hours
To comply with the policies, rules and procedures of the institution
Preparing and maintaining lesson plans, progress reports and required official documents
