Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in any relevant discipline. A background in Education, Business, Social Sciences, English, International Relations, or a related field will be an advantage.

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in overseas education counseling, student recruitment, admissions, or a related field.

• Strong knowledge of at least one major study destination, preferably Australia.

• Strong knowledge of additional destinations such as the UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Malaysia will be an advantage.

• Good understanding of international university admissions, entry requirements, application procedures, and supporting documentation.

• Experience working with university application portals, CRM systems, or student management platforms.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bangla.

• Strong interpersonal and counseling skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both students and parents.

• Ability to assess student profiles and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations.

• Strong follow-up, organization, and time-management skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Comfortable working in a performance-oriented environment and meeting agreed recruitment targets.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and other relevant digital tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates will receive preference if they have:

• Previous experience counseling students for Australia, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Malaysia.

• Experience with university/college applications and admission requirements.

• Experience handling student applications from initial inquiry through enrollment.

• Existing knowledge of multiple international destinations.

• Experience working with university representatives or international education providers.

• Experience participating in education fairs, seminars, webinars, or student recruitment events.

• Strong sales conversion and relationship-management skills.

• A good student network who can be readily accessed is an added advantage.

Responsibilities & Context:

Position Overview

The Academic Counselor will be responsible for guiding prospective students and their parents through the study-abroad decision-making and application process.

The successful candidate will combine strong academic counseling, destination and university knowledge, communication skills, and student recruitment ability. The role involves managing prospective students from the initial consultation through university application, offer acceptance, and pre-departure support while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and student service.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a target-driven environment while ensuring that recommendations are genuinely aligned with students' academic and career goals.

Key Responsibilities

Student Counseling & Recruitment

• Conduct one-to-one counseling sessions with students and parents regarding overseas study opportunities.

• Assess students' academic backgrounds, English proficiency, career interests, financial considerations, and preferred destinations.

• Recommend appropriate courses, universities, and study pathways based on individual student profiles.

• Provide students with clear comparisons of university options, entry requirements, tuition fees, scholarships, living costs, and other relevant considerations.

• Explain the advantages, limitations, and requirements of different study destinations without making misleading promises.

• Follow up with prospective students and maintain consistent communication throughout the decision-making process.

• Convert qualified inquiries into genuine student applications and successful enrollments.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with students and parents throughout the recruitment cycle.

Application & Admission Support

• Guide students through university selection and application procedures.

• Review academic and supporting documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with institutional requirements.

• Assist students in preparing and submitting applications through university portals, agent portals, and other relevant systems.

• Coordinate with university representatives and internal teams regarding applications, offers, scholarships, and admission requirements.

• Track applications from submission through offer issuance and acceptance.

• Support students with SOP/personal statement preparation, CVs, and other application materials where required.

• Monitor application deadlines and ensure timely submission of documents and applications.

• Maintain accurate records of student applications and outcomes using the company's CRM or designated tracking systems.

Visa & Pre-Departure Support

• Provide students with appropriate guidance regarding the general visa application process and required documentation.

• Coordinate with relevant internal teams to ensure students receive timely support for visa-related processes.

• Assist students in preparing for university/CAS/GS or other institutional interviews where applicable.

• Support students with pre-departure guidance, including accommodation, travel preparation, enrollment requirements, and other practical matters.

• Ensure that students are referred to appropriate specialists or official sources where matters fall outside the counselor's professional scope.

Student Engagement & Business Development

• Accompany Business Development Manager in different promotional events.

• Respond professionally to student inquiries received through phone, email, WhatsApp, social media, and other communication channels.

• Manage assigned leads and maintain timely follow-up throughout the recruitment cycle.

• Participate in education fairs, university visits, seminars, webinars, open days, school/college outreach programs, and other recruitment activities.

• Support the organization and execution of student counseling events and university information sessions.

• Build relationships with prospective students and contribute to VIEC's student referral and alumni network.

• Represent VIEC professionally when communicating with students, parents, university representatives, and external stakeholders.

• Where appropriate, participate in educational videos, webinars, live sessions, and other student-facing content.

Reporting & Administration

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date student and lead records in the CRM or designated company systems.

• Track application progress, offer outcomes, enrollment status, and follow-up activities.

• Prepare regular activity and recruitment reports as required by management.

• Monitor individual performance against agreed recruitment and conversion targets.

• Maintain strict confidentiality of students' personal, academic, financial, and application information.

• Coordinate effectively with the admissions, operations, marketing, and management teams.

• Undertake other responsibilities reasonably assigned by management in support of VIEC's student recruitment and business objectives.
