Experience:

• At least 5 years

• A Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, Economics or Statistics is required. A higher degree from western institutions will be preferred.
• Additional academic work or training in public policy, political science, law, governance or a related field will be an advantage.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• At least five years experience working in a research institution or a research-focused role, preferably on governance, democracy, elections or public policy in Bangladesh.

• Sound knowledge of research methodology, including study design, sampling, data collection, data analysis and research ethics.

• Ability to use quantitative and qualitative research methods and interpret findings accurately.

• Familiarity with Bangladesh’s constitutional framework, governance institutions, electoral processes and relevant laws.

• Knowledge of recent reform initiatives in Bangladesh, including the July National Charter 2025, proposed and adopted legal reforms, and their implications for democracy, governance and electoral processes.

• Strong analytical and report-writing skills, with an excellent command of written and spoken Bangla and English.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with statistical or qualitative analysis software will be an advantage.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Its work includes research, public engagement and advocacy for institutional and democratic reforms. Job Summary

The Researcher will conduct and support research on democracy, good governance, the Constitution, law, electoral processes and related public policy issues in Bangladesh. The role involves designing studies, collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, reviewing laws and policy documents, and preparing clear, evidence-based reports and briefs to inform SHUJAN’s public engagement and advocacy.

Work Conditions

Primarily office-based in Dhaka, with field visits and travel as required by research assignments.
