∎ The Maternal and Child Health Division of icddr,b aims to ensure the wellbeing of maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (MNC&AH) irrespective of sociodemographic identity of population. To accelerate the MNC&AH research, the maternal and child health division offers a Research Investigator position for individuals who are interested in developing a career in public health research and engage themselves in public health wellbeing.
∎ The Research Investigator will be required to independently plan, direct, implement, and monitor research activities with the objective of generating knowledge within the guidelines of the research protocol and organisational values and guidelines. S/he must have strong critical thinking skills, ability to identify substantive problems that threaten the research activities, and creative capacity to resolve these problems. S/he should be proactive, dynamic, and capable of working independently.
∎ Location: Mohakhali Campus, Dhaka.
∎ Contract Type and duration: Fixed Term; duration will be 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to performance.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Research Investigator will be reporting to the PI or delegate with the following responsibilities:
∎ Generate new ideas;
∎ Develop research proposal/protocol and overall strategy to implement the research studies/projects;
∎ Monitor implementation plan, review consumption of resources, prepare report and delegate project related activities to ensure control and review;
∎ Provide training to data collectors, oversee field activities, identify areas of improvement and provide necessary assistance as and when required;
∎ Analyze and interpret data;
∎ Prepare reports;
∎ Develop scientific manuscripts;
∎ Manage staff and guide/coach/mentor team members in scientific arena (scientific writing, scientific capacity building) to develop good researchers;
∎ Coordinate with government stakeholders, donors and relevant development partners;
∎ Prepare and manage budget.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Strong interpersonal and excellent communication and writing skills in English;
∎ Must have strong critical thinking skills, ability to identify substantive problems and creative capacity to resolve these problems. S/he should be proactive, dynamic, and capable of working independently;
∎ At least 3 years of relevant experience. However, the length of experience may be relaxed for exceptional candidates;
∎ Candidates who have publications in international peer-reviewed journals with significant contribution will have preference.
Salary:
∎ Annual Tk. 1,459,020/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
