Qualification:     

Education

• Master’s in environmental science, development studies, forestry, soil and water resource management, economics, sociology, or other relevant fields with 1 year of field research experience.
• Fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.     

Experience

• Practical working experience relevant to the “key duties and responsibilities” mentioned above is extremely required for this position.
• Only candidates having those experiences are encouraged to apply.Should be a good team player.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex and technical information with clarity.
• Strong ability to work flexibly, managing changing and competing priorities.

Arannayk Foundation thrives to promote the conservation and restoration of natural tropical forests, forest biodiversity, and natural resources of Bangladesh. The foundation was established in 2003 under a “debt-for-nature-swap provision” made through an agreement signed between the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh and the Government of the United States.  Since then, the foundation has provided financial and technical support to various local NGOs to implement more than a hundred projects that contributed to forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, and livelihood improvement of forest-dependent communities to reduce their dependence on forest resources for earning a living. The foundation is registered as a ‘not-for-profit company’ limited by guarantee under the Bangladesh Companies Act 1994 having no share capital. Arannayk Foundation registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh in April 2024. 

The foundation is, among others, implementing the Plastic Reduction Initiative in Sundarbans Transboundary International Natural Ecosystems (PRISTINE) project at Mongla, Bagerhat, and ecotourism sites of Sundarbans. This project aims to reduce plastic pollution occurring upstream and downstream of the Sundarbans, provide technical solutions to track plastic pollution, monitor and record waste picker’s recycling activities, promote awareness of pollution reduction, and facilitate the socio-economic development of waste pickers to sustain project outcomes.  

Arannayk Foundation is looking for a young, energetic, and skilled incumbent for immediate appointment as a Research Associate for the PRISTINE Project. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:      

• Having the ability for frequent field visits for data collection.

• Design and perform socio-economic survey, vulnerability assessment, GBV risk assessment of waste pickers, and conduct plastic waste inventory.

• Performing qualitative and quantitative research in the project area and organizing data in the prescribed format.

• Providing technical, statistical, and analytical support to the project team.

• Critically review reports, journal articles, and policy papers produced by peers, academics, and other agencies.

• Consolidating and preparing the technical progress reports and other deliverables of the project.

• Perform any other duties/tasks as assigned by the Project Team Leader.

Salary and benefits: Arannayk offers a congenial and professional growth-oriented working environment, while the consolidated salary for the position is BDT 30,000.
