Job Context:
∎ Reports to: Research Officer
∎ Grade: 2
∎ Duration: Fixed term till 31st March 2022, subject to funding, with strong possibility for extension
∎ Start Date: ASAP

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Research- Be involved in formulating research design and preparing research brief (where appropriate).
∎ Design Research Methodology: Working with ROs to design and draft research instruments. Reviewing research instruments (questionnaires/discussion guides) prepared by agencies/internal clients.
∎ Liaison with Agencies/field team conducting fieldwork: Help ROs to brief the field team and supervising the pretesting/piloting of the research instruments, and recruitment of research participants as needed. Monitor and control the quality of fieldwork/data collection.
∎ Conduct fieldwork: Moderate focus groups, and conduct in-depth interviews, PRAs, ethnographies with the Rohingya and Host community. Select study participants according to selection criteria. Take field note of formal and informal interviews/group discussions and ensure data validity. Help to arrange logistics.
∎ Manage and analyse data and report writing: Write up transcripts/ framework/ summary of the interviews/ group discussion and ensure data quality. Work closely with ROs in analysis of qualitative data, and help drafting reports.
∎ Presenting Findings: Research Assistant may require presenting research findings to internal clients and stakeholders. So, good presentation skill will be an asset.

Additional Requirements:
∎ High competence in qualitative data analysis.
∎ Previous experience in international development or media research.
∎ Previous research experience working with NGOs
∎ Experience of facilitating interviews/ discussion with the people from Rohingya and Bangladeshi community.
∎ Experience of writing summary/ transcript from Rohingya language to Bangla and/or English will be an added benefit.
∎ Strong IT skills, including MS Word, Excell and Power point
∎ Strong written and spoken Bangla and English.
∎ Demonstratable report writing skills, with the proven ability to communicate complex technical ideas using non-technical language to a wide range of audiences including journalists, production staff and development practitioners.
∎ Good time management skills, with a track record of delivering research findings to deadline.
∎ Demonstrable understanding of cultural diversity and cross-cultural research within Bangladesh.
