∎ Overview: Under the direct guidance of family planning coordinator, the project officer is expected to provide leadership and direction to ensure the strategic, programmatic, technical, and financial integrity of the pilot project at Urban Slum of Dhaka. S/he is responsible for achieving the planned results set out for the program. S/he will be the primary point of contact with the service provider, community health workers and community family planning volunteer. The Project officer is responsible for overall project management, implementation and guidance to field teams. S/he will represent Jhpiego at Partners, local authority, Liaison with government counterpart and other stakeholders at urban Slum area.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Assist with development of Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) and Implement project workplan activities under the guidance of Family planning coordinator, Project manager, partners and Finance and Administration team
∎ Organize project orientation workshop with different stakeholders of urban slum areas like- implementing partners, landlords, govt. health and family planning service providers
∎ Orientation of project activities with the service providers, community Health workers (CHW) and volunteers on Post-partum family planning activities within the selected slum area with their roles and responsibilities
∎ Provide guidance to the CHW on how to conduct sessions with community volunteers, ensure the sessions are conducted as per plan and quality.
∎ Liaison with beneficiaries whether information is given appropriately and they understood correctly.
∎ Follow up Community health worker's day to day activities along with family planning volunteer activities, organize feedback sessions for improvement areas
∎ Assist the team to arrange the Postpartum family planning awareness campaign in urban slum area. Contribute in developing a functional and effective team of volunteer to promote PPFP within the community.
∎ Facilitate and conduct training activities, prepare training report and ensure its proper documentation and dissemination, including sharing findings with the MACP team.
∎ Assist to develop training monitoring plan and conduct post-training follow up, including addressing issues that arise during monitoring.
∎ Support partners to ensure the supply chain of the Postpartum family planning commodities, instruments and equipment which are critical to FP/PPFP service provision.
∎ Provide ongoing management in response to issues encountered during project implementation
∎ Commissioning all community level program activities including:
∎ Continuous communication/collaboration with the program team
∎ Assist with M&E activities; ensuring timely and accurate reporting of results
∎ Cultivating strategic relationships with Community influencers
∎ Work closely with the Finance and Administration team and M&E Officer/Family Planning coordinators/Project Manager to track planned activity and ensure field presence of volunteer and community health workers
∎ Help facilitate trainings in conjunction with the technical staff
∎ Contribute to program reports or any other documentation requested by the donor
∎ Document program success, challenges, case study and lessons learned and share with team
∎ This position has no supervisory role
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 5-7 years working experience in program development and project management with international/development organizations
∎ Experience in implementing projects on Family Planning, Maternal health with community interventions
∎ Experience working in urban slum areas and government counterparts
∎ Strong ability to work and communicate within a team and also local level stakeholder.
∎ English language proficiency preferred
∎ Ability to work independently
∎ Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and pressure to perform
∎ Proven leadership skills, as well as skills in facilitation, training, and coordination
∎ Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism
∎ Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
∎ Proficiency in written and spoken English
∎ Computer literacy with particular skills in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook
∎ Excellent inter-personnel skills and ability to work in team environment
∎ Ability to undertake in-country travel as and when required
