Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Work closely with the Project Manager to support the development and execution of child-cantered community-based risk and vulnerability assessments.
∎ Assist in the coordination of capacity-building initiatives for volunteers, district-level resource pools, DMCs, children and youth forums, and interpretation groups on Anticipatory Action.
∎ Collaborate with the Project Manager in coordinating child-cantered, community-based risk analysis and vulnerability assessments, including digital elevation data collection for mapping and GIS data management.
∎ Support the Project Manager in disseminating early warning messages to vulnerable populations, focusing on agriculture, wash, and shelter sectors.
∎ Contribute to the identification of gaps in existing Early Warning Systems (EWS) and assist in the installation of monitoring systems such as Automatic Rain gauge, river gauge, and Soil Moisture Monitoring System.
∎ Assist in the design and implementation of a web-based solution for the dissemination of multi-hazard early warning information.
∎ Collaborate with communities and local institutions to contribute to the development of localized, child-cantered early action plans based on existing information on multi-sector risks and vulnerabilities.
∎ Support the Project Manager in conducting Household Economy Analysis (HEA) and pre-crisis assessments for targeted districts.
∎ Assist in the development of action plans for cyclones, landslides, and floods in targeted District/Upazila.
∎ Contribute to the identification of community-led, small-scale, gender-sensitive, child-friendly flood early actions for cyclones, floods, and landslides.
∎ Assist in the implementation of gender-sensitive, child-friendly anticipatory actions at the community level.
∎ Provide administrative support to the Project Manager in organizing meetings, workshops, and other project-related events.
∎ Assist in project documentation and reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
∎ JAGO NARI is a non-government development organization in the central coastal region of Bangladesh. The main focusing areas of work are women's empowerment, Climate Change Adaptation, Health & Nutrition, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Education. Recently JAGO NARI is implementing a new project in the DRR &Climate Change field with the technical support of Save the Children. The project title is “Child Cantered Anticipatory Action for Better Preparedness of Communities and Local Institutions in Northern and Coastal Areas of Bangladesh”. The project aims to enhance access and capacity for climate information services, implement effective early warning systems, and develop risk-informed early action plans. In this connection, JAGO NARI is seeking a Project Officer for this project. The Project Officer, under the supervision of the Project Manager, will play a vital role in the implementation and coordination of a comprehensive climate resilience project with a focus on child-cantered anticipatory action. The role involves supporting various project outputs, engaging with local communities, and ensuring efficient project management throughout its lifecycle.
∎ Project period: Up to 31 August 2026.
