Job Context:
∎ Transboundary River for Our Sustainable Advancement (TROSA) programme has been working in Bangladesh starting from January 2017. This five-year program (2017-2021) is funded by the Government of Sweden (SIDA) and implementing in Bangladesh jointly by Oxfam and its partner organization Canter for Natural Resource Studies (CNRS). The program aimed to ensure that riverine communities uphold their rights, build their resilience, and participate in water resource management in the transboundary river basins of Ganges-Bramhaputra-Megha (GBM). TROSA seeks to inform and influence trans-boundary water governance policies and practices at the local, national and regional levels. Through partnership and innovation, the program aims to contribute to progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
∎ JOB LOCATION: Rangpur/Rowmari/Bhola with extensive field visits to the community level. The working location may be changed upon the dynamic nature of the project.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Engage key stakeholders of water governance (government, private sector, civil society, community, youth and women leaders) from grassroots to national level;
∎ Stakeholder mapping, intelligence and strategic influencing;
∎ Arranging workshops, campaigns, social media activities for stakeholder engagement;
∎ Keeping track of stakeholder feedback and communicating to managers;
∎ Work closely with stakeholders to organize campaigns on issues related with inclusion of rights of the marginalized in water governance with focus on access and control over common pool water resources and safety from river related disasters;
∎ Strategic planning and consultations for campaigns;
∎ Research, reporting and documentation of water governance outcomes;
∎ Organization of data and information related with water governance;
∎ Human interest stories collection and dissemination;
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 40 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ 1-year relevant work experiences will be preferred
∎ Good understanding of Bangladesh context of natural resource governance and situation of marginalized communities in the grass-roots;
∎ Good understanding of stakeholder relationships in development sector;
∎ Excellent writing capacity in English and Bangla;
∎ Skills in MS Office,
∎ Excellent presentation skills and Strong interpersonal skills;
∎ Relevant working experience in water governance in specific or natural resource governance in general;
∎ Some experience of voluntary social work or working with voluntary organizations.
∎ Experience of facilitating trainings, workshops and other forms of capacity building activities
∎ Strong commitment to the rights of the most marginal communities
∎ Strong commitment to the conservation of river ecosystems
∎ Strong commitment to the values of accountability, inclusiveness and empowerment
∎ Strong commitment towards gender inclusion and child rights in specific
