Experience:
Asian University for Women (AUW) located in Chattogram, Bangladesh, is the first of its kind: an independent international institution dedicated to excellence, women’s education and leadership development. Rooted in the aspirations of Asia, while global in outlook, AUW prepares women to become leaders who create meaningful change in their communities and beyond.
Since 2022, the Asian University for Women (AUW) has collaborated with the renowned international institutions to offer a Master of Arts in Education focused on Education policy and leadership. Building on this experience, AUW is now inaugurating an innovative Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program, which endeavours young women to return to their communities as highly-qualified teachers and leaders to establish top-tier secondary schools in underutilized local spaces, thereby addressing the hazards of journey to a distant school-an ongoing challenge for many students in underserved communities. The program will be delivered mostly through a hybrid model in collaboration with leading international universities. Courses will be taught by international faculties via Zoom in a smart classroom environment and will be supported on site by highly qualified Teaching Fellows who will facilitate learning and provide academic guidance. The program will recruit cohorts of university-educated women who will jointly apply in a group of 5 (five), with a proposal to establish a girls' secondary school in their home community. Throughout the two-year program, participants will refine their proposals while completing intensive coursework in teaching, leadership, curriculum development, and school administration. To accommodate working professionals, students who are currently teaching will have the flexibility to participate online when necessary, with the expectation that they will attend designated on-campus immersion sessions throughout the program. Upon graduation, the most promising teams will receive seed funding to launch their proposed schools, along with ongoing mentoring and organizational support from AUW. This support will continue as graduates establish and strengthen their schools, creating a growing network of community-led institutions that expand educational opportunities for girls in underserved regions. This is the inaugural session of the Graduate School of Education. As such the program might need to be restructured on the basis of experience and feedback. The first Master's in Teaching cohort is scheduled to begin in January 2027, with graduates expected to establish their schools in January 2029. The role of the Academic Program Coordinator is pivotal in launching and shaping this graduate program from its inception. The Program Coordinator will support the establishment of the program by coordinating curriculum development, developing academic policies and documentation, facilitating faculty recruitment and onboarding, cultivating strategic partnerships, supporting quality assurance processes, coordinating with Outreach Coordinator on student recruitment and admissions, and establishing the academic and operational systems required for a successful launch. As the program grows, you will work alongside faculty and students to manage academic procedures, support the effective and sustainable delivery of the curriculum, enhance student learning and success, and contribute to the continued development of a program with the potential to transform women's education throughout the region. Join one of the nation’s most internationally diverse academic communities, committed to excellence, innovation and social impact!
