Educational Requirements:
∎ Diploma in Nursing
∎ Diploma or certificate (minimum 18 months) in Paramedical
∎ Training in IMCI, CMAM, C-MAMI or IYCF.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Screen infants under 6 months and lactating women mainly in the homes and when needed, support the nutrition site-based C-MAMI activities. Enrol beneficiaries to C-MAMI (Community Management of At Risk Mothers and Infants) using the C-MAMI guidelines including:
∎ Anthropometry
∎ Clinical assessment
∎ Breastfeeding assessment
∎ Maternal mental health status assessment
∎ Examine enrolled infants and lactating women and provide appropriate nutritional and medical treatment following the Medair's adapted C-MAMI guidelines and the adapted IMCI guidelines from the Bangladesh national and WHO IMCI guidelines
∎ Examine enrolled infants for any signs of co-existing illnesses such as pneumonia and diarrhoea, and follow appropriate referral according to the C-MAMI guidelines
∎ Assess enrolled lactating women for maternal mental health issues and refer to the appropriate mental health service if needed
∎ Recognize the age appropriate general danger signs and follow Medair's action protocol for infants 0-6 months and children 6-59 months according to the IMCI guidelines and refer to the nearest stabilization centre or in-patient care.
∎ Liaise with the Nutrition Outreach Supervisor to ensure that CMAM and C-MAMI defaulters and non-responders are followed up with home visits
∎ Give appropriate nutrition, health and hygiene education to the beneficiaries and care takers
∎ Give appropriate IYCF counselling and other health messages to the enrolled lactating women
∎ When needed, assist OTP/TSFP/BSFP services in following the CMAM guidelines
∎ Discharge infants and the lactating woman dyad according to C-MAMI discharge criteria
∎ Be able to assess the IYCF needs for infants and young children under the age of 2 years and give appropriate referral or individual or group counselling.
∎ Provide appropriate IYCF counselling to caregivers with infants and young children under the age of 2 years, this includes being able to give one-on-one counselling on the following topics:
∎ Breastfeeding: exclusive <6 months age and continued breastfeeding until the at least the age of 2
∎ Complementary feeding: timely, adequate, safe and properly fed
∎ Uphold Medair values and contribute to the wellbeing of the team as an active member.
∎ Follow World Concern and Medair policies, including child protection.
∎ This position is outreach-based, going from house-to-house and doing activities in the homes of (newly) delivered mothers. The counsellor will assist at the nutrition site only when needed.

∎ Hygiene
∎ Ensure good hygiene standards are kept within nutrition facilities
∎ Maintain clean and tidy work area
∎ Ensure accurate record keeping for reporting
∎ Compile IYCF and C-MAMI reports as required
∎ Give supportive supervision and capacity build the IYCF and education volunteers at the nutrition site on technical IYCF matters
∎ Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and provide guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions
∎ Oversee C-MAMI volunteers and ensure their development, holding regular meetings and training, give supportive supervision, ensuring that they follow the guidelines given by Medair regarding CMAM and C-MAMI specific activities.
∎ Provide support and mentorship to C-MAMI nutrition assistants, IYCF counsellors when needed
∎ Support the outreach supervisor in providing C-MAMI related training to Community Nutrition Volunteers
∎ Liaise with the appropriate community volunteers to ensure that the volunteers are able to do appropriate active case finding for both the C-MAMI program and any other young children under the age of 2 where the caregiver needs IYCF counselling
∎ Ensure good coordination between the nutrition team and other health and nutrition staff and also community and site volunteers in the same catchment area
∎ Ensure staff of referral facilities is informed of all aspects of the program including referral and counter-referral criteria
∎ Assist other nutrition site staff in preparing stock requests
∎ Ensure safe storage of all medicines and medical material and equipment
∎ Monitor expiration dates to ensure stocks are used prior to their expiration date
∎ Conduct weekly stock checks and keep accurate records of stock movements of medical supplies.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 18 years
∎ Only females are allowed to apply
∎ Experience working in a nutrition program
∎ Experience working with infants 0-6 months
∎ Previous work experience as an IYCF counsellor
