∎ Position: NRM and Protected Area Management Officer
∎ No. of Vacancies: 02 (Sylhet Division - 01, Khulna Division -01)
∎ Expected Joining Date: 15 January 2022
∎ The Protibesh project is funded by USAID which focuses on three result areas including i) Strengthening environmental governance and management; ii) Mitigating biodiversity threats and iii) Advancement of market-based incentives that promote sustainable natural resources management under the Development Objective "Strengthened Resilience to Natural Hazards." The goal of Protibesh is to improve ecosystem conservation in and around targeted key biodiversity areas of Bangladesh such as northeast haor areas and southwest Sundarbans. CNRS will be engaged in implementing project activities at the ground level with the technical support of Chemonics International.
∎ Job Nature: Full-time (up to May 2026)
∎ Job Location: Any location of North-East and South-West Region of Bangladesh

Job Responsibilities:
∎ This position will be responsible for forest and wetland management activities at the assigned sute.
∎ S/he will support selected UPs to develop environmental plans that align with and complement PA and ECA plans and determines UP fund allocation.
∎ Support reviews of management plans
∎ Support RIMS, FRSS, and SMART
∎ Liaise with respective government line agencies including Department of Fisheries, Forest Department, Department of Land and local administration.
∎ Illustrative activities:
∎ Contribute to develop site level planning related to NRM and Protected Area Management.
∎ Identify Natural Resource (NR) and PA issues to incorporate into Protected Area (PA) management plans.
∎ Pursue to incorporate Protected Area (PA) issues at local level planning in Government and other sectors including selected Union Parishad
∎ Facilitate in planning to develop and implement co-management plans
∎ Guide respective site level staffs to implement CMOs management plans
∎ Assist Biophysical monitoring and assessment planning
∎ Coordinate baseline survey and assessment on NRM and protected area management related activities
∎ Provide technical support and training to staffs
∎ Bridge linkages with fisheries, environment and forest department to implement field level activities
∎ Leverage with other organizations/institution for sustainable financing in implementation of PA management plans
∎ Provide and validate data from the site offices on NRM and Protected Area management in management information system
∎ Report overall NRM and protected area management related activities to respective line managers of Chemonics and CNRS at regional and Dhaka office
∎ Any other activities as assigned by the respective management.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum five years of experience in NRM and or PA management
∎ Having excellent understanding on local contexts, co-management, conservation, country policies, rules and acts related to forest and wetland.
∎ Strong ability in working with GoB systems.
∎ Having excellent communication, Facilitation and motivational skill
∎ Understanding on local culture and languages.
∎ Excellent reporting skill in English
∎ Abilities to undertake extensive travel to village level
∎ To protect children in connection and uphold safeguarding principles
∎ Effective computer literacy and Tab & web-based MIS operation
∎ Having problem solving and prompt decision making capacity
∎ Ability to work under pressure
∎ Having non-discriminatory and gender sensitive perception
∎ Willingness and ability to drive motorcycle in the field as and when required; Valid driving license is an added advantage

Salary:
∎ BDT 80,608/month and other admissible benefits.
