Job Context:
∎ Smart Innovations School is seeking an ambitious professional for the position of Music Teacher in our school in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
∎ The Music Teacher will work with students across grade levels, K - Grade 6, to facilitate experiences with a variety of ages and developmental levels. This Teacher will provide a general music curriculum in which all students are introduced to a solid musical foundation, including an introduction to vocal music and musical instruments (i.e. Orff, recorders). In keeping with the school-wide philosophy of inquiry-based, student-centered learning, the Music Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing the curriculum as well as collaborating with classroom teachers to successfully plan for integration across the curriculum. Familiarity and comfort with a wide range of artistic media, techniques, and strategies are essential.
∎ Music performances is an expected component of the school program.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Representing areas of knowledge, understanding, and skills, in all their richness
∎ Engaging and motivating students to achieve at levels that are beyond their expectations and previous limits
∎ Planning lessons taking full account of students' individual learning needs, as well as their individual learning styles, preferences, and capabilities
∎ Encouraging and enabling all students to become effective, confident and independent life-long learners
∎ Planning and delivery of a program of learning opportunities and activities to enrich and enhance the taught curriculum
∎ Maintaining excellent professional relationships with colleagues by making a wider professional contribution to the continuing improvement of the school
∎ Communicate open and professionally with parents on a regular basis about achievement and the progress of their child
∎ Making full use of ICT and the new technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for students of all ages and achievement levels
∎ Contribute to and plan after-school activities as required
∎ Actively support the school partnership with the community e.g. attending school/community events which may occasionally occur on weekends or in the evening (i.e. school concerts, art shows, etc.)
∎ Teach with consistent effectiveness the students in her/his classes, taking full account of all students' individual educational needs
∎ Promote the intellectual, moral, cultural, physical and personal abilities and aptitudes of the students in her/his classes and provide guidance and advice to students on educational and relevant social and other matters
∎ Assess, record and report on the development, progress, and achievement of the students in her/his classes
∎ Guide students to set targets to improve on their previous 'best' and give regular feedback to students to support the next steps in learning
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 25 to 40 years
∎ Valid Teaching Certification and qualified to teach at the elementary/primary level
