Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.

Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and blood bank instrumentation.

Responsibilities & Context:

Immunohematology Testing:

  • Perform routine and specialized serological tests, including blood typing, antibody screening, and antibody identification.

  • Conduct cross-matching procedures to determine donor-recipient compatibility and prevent adverse transfusion reactions.

  • Investigate and resolve complex immune hematological problems, such as unexpected antibodies or transfusion reactions.

Blood Product Management:

  • Collect, process, and prepare blood components (e.g., packed red blood cells, platelets, plasma, cryoprecipitate) according to established protocols and regulatory guidelines.

  • Manage and monitor the inventory of blood and blood products, ensuring adequate stock levels and adherence to proper storage conditions (temperature control) and expiration dates.

  • Issue and release blood products for patient transfusion safely and accurately, coordinating with physicians and nursing staff.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Perform and document daily Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures on all reagents, equipment, and processes.

  • By leadership, maintain and calibrate advanced laboratory equipment (e.g., centrifuges, blood bank analyzers, refrigerators/freezers) to ensure optimal performance.

  • Ensure strict compliance with all local, national, and international regulatory standards (local health authority).

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain meticulous and accurate records of all laboratory procedures, test results, blood unit history, and quality control data.

  • Accurately and timely document and report test results, including any critical or "panic" values, to the requesting clinical staff.

Safety and Collaboration:

  • Adhere to strict safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and proper handling of biohazardous materials.

  • Participate in the investigation of suspected transfusion reactions, implementing corrective actions as necessary.

  • Collaborate with other laboratory and clinical staff to provide expert technical guidance on blood bank-related issues.

  • Any assigned duty by Management
