Job Title: Medical Nurse
Responsible to: Medical Doctor
Job Location: Cox`s Bazar (Sadar)

Job Responsibilities

• Ensures the nursing of the patient and provides the health care within the hospital

• Responsibility to initiate emergency treatment, stabilization of patients and ensuring adequate patient monitoring in all medical departments

• Responsible for dressing of wounds, minor injuries, skin infections and administrating drugs as prescribed by the consultants

• Responsible for assisting in the transfer of sick patients to hospital as requested by hospital doctor and the safe handover of patient

• Responsible for maintaining excellent infection control standards in the hospital

• Give the necessary supervision, care and advise to women during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period

• Conduct deliveries on her own and care for the newborn infant

• Manage complications in pregnancy and childbirth, in accordance with the principles of basic emergency obstetric care

• Provide primary care to women of reproductive age, in accordance with the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP)

• Counsel and educate women, the family and the community, in relevant areas of health including preparation for parenthood and childbirth

• Provide all non-surgical methods of family planning, and counselling for surgical methods

• Obtain specialized assistance as necessary (consultation or referral)

• Perform administrative duties such as patient charting, recording and reporting of data; clinic and/or facility management (as required); or coordination of specific educational or outreach programs

• Follow established health post policies, procedures and objectives; continuous quality improvement initiatives; safety, environmental, and infection prevention standards

• Participate in provision of 24-hour, 7-day maternity service, which may require evening, night or on- call duty
