Education:

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)
    • Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) in Part 1
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Validated & updated registration from BMDC is Mandatory (Please mention your registration number in the application).
  • Desirable: postgraduate training in emergency medicine/internal medicine/pediatrics/neonatology/cardiology (6-month honorary training in tertiary level hospital).
  • Desirable: FCPS part 1/MRCP part 1 /MRCEM part 1 /MRCPCH Part 1

Essential:

Experience in managing emergency and trauma patients

Desirable :

  • Experience in managing pediatric emergencies, NCD-related emergencies, such as diabetic ketoacidosis, cardiac emergency (ECG interpretation and responding to cardiac emergencies, including use of defibrillators and rhythm management), hypertensive crisis, and decompensated heart failure in acute settings.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience of working in ICU /HDU, PICU & NICU settings, especially with pre-term and LBW neonates, involving mechanical ventilation (CPAP/HFNO), hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care management
  • Management of psychiatric and epileptic patients (based on mhGAP).

Language:

  • Essential: Mission language (English and Bangla) essential.
  • Desirable: Local language.

Responsibilities & Context:

Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions.

Accountabilities:

  • Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols.
  • Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
  • Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits , consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
  • Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
  • Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
  • Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.
  • Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:

  • Provide advanced emergency and critical care to patients with respiratory distress and failure, trauma, cardiac arrest, and sepsis. Provide resuscitation and management based on BLS, helping babies breathe (HBB), ACLS, and ATLS protocols.
  • Manage critically ill patients in the emergency room, inpatient departments and PICU/NICU/ ICU/HDU, depending on the project setting. If available, to utilize ventilation (CPAP/HFNO), airway management, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Perform emergency procedures based on available resources, including IO (Intraosseous) cannulation, decompression (such as pneumothorax and ascites) and cardiac defibrillation, ensuring timely intervention during acute deterioration.
  • Perform Clinical and Minor Surgical Procedures: Participate in trainings for clinical and minor surgical procedures. Upon successful assessment of competencies and under appropriate supervision, assist in or independently perform minor procedures when required.
  • Support in Delivering Patient-Centered Care: Provide high-quality, patient-centered care across the outpatient department, emergency department and inpatient wards. Respect patients’ autonomy and confidentiality, provide sufficient information, and confirm patient’s understanding of their illness and treatment plans. Ensure dignified and respectful interdisciplinary care for patients, upholding safeguarding principles.
  • Safe and Evidence-Based Prescribing, especially for antimicrobials: Ensure rational use of antibiotics and participate in antimicrobial stewardship. In project locations with availability of culture and sensitivity, to collaborate with antimicrobial stewardship focal points to ensure tailored antimicrobial therapy.
  • Data collection, surveillance and outbreak response: Participate in surveillance and ensure appropriate data collection for communicable diseases, including line lists and other documentation. Participate in emergency responses as part of the Emergency Preparedness (E-PREP) team if required. Participate in different clinical audits.
  • Communication, Collaboration and Continuity of Care: Ensure effective communication across all points of care—provide and receive handovers, participate in ward rounds, clinics, and emergency consultations. Prioritize clear, respectful communication with patients, families and all members of the healthcare team. Maintain regular updates with inpatients and their families regarding ongoing care. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team of health professionals for integrated care delivery.

    Contract and Benefit:

    2-12 month- contract renewable based on performance and operational needs. Salary according to Level Nine (9) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT 119500 Gross). Salary is not negotiable. Income tax deduction from salary based on current income tax rule. 2 annual leave days per month worked. Medical insurance for employee and direct dependents based on Health Care Policy- Locally Recruited Staff.

    Others:

    There is no provisions for relocation. 2 Festival Bonuses after completion of one year of uninterrupted continuous service.
