Job Context:
∎ Background:
∎ The Market Systems Development Specialist will apply a market systems approach to interact with market actors in the aquaculture sector including feed, seed, producers, trader, processors etc. The Incumbent will identify and engage regional private sector partners who can support the aims of the activity and are willing to invest in providing high quality aquaculture goods and services to value chain actors.
∎ S/he will help the partners to develop proposals for support from the activity leading to the award of grants for successful proposals. The Incumbent will also facilitate sub-grantees to execute the proposed business ideas at field level and collect different information, story, cases on changes in the market.
∎ Eligibility, Location and Duration:
∎ This position will be based at WorldFish`s Office in Jashore, Bangladesh. Interviews are expected to be held in the last week of May 2019. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful candidate should be available to commence by June 2019 for an initial one (1) year and nine (9) months fixed term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Identifies market actors, assesses end markets, develops value chain maps, identifies challenges and opportunities, and market-based solutions to integrate small-scale producers into their supply chains and commercial distribution networks by conducting market research, mapping, consultation workshop at regional level etc. and design appropriate market driven interventions.
∎ Develop a detailed inventory of contacts in regional private sector companies and other relevant stakeholders and build relationships with private companies and other relevant stakeholders serving value chain actors in the zone of influence (ZOI).
∎ Assist and negotiate with regional private sector businesses and organizations to finalize detail business model for support in response to calls for proposals from the activity.
∎ Facilitate, monitor and provide feed-back for successful implementation of the designed interventions at field level.
∎ Provide capacity building support to businesses for efficient grant management and compliance with activity and WorldFish procedures.
∎ Improves and adapts program design through internal and external collaboration and learning.
∎ Arrange & facilitate different events at regional level.
∎ Assist the MEL/CLA teams with development and uses of different MEL tools, collection of data on project results etc.
∎ Coordinate with the public sector, public-private institutions, Feed the Future (FTF) partners and associated stakeholders in zone of influence (ZOI).
∎ Collects stakeholder reports, generate reports, case studies and other communications as necessary.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 5 years' experience, knowledge and skills in market systems and enterprise development, preferably in the aquaculture sector.
∎ Experience working in/with private sector and development organizations.
∎ Competent in activity planning, facilitation of implementation, monitoring and report writing.
∎ Understanding of gender, youth, environment and nutrition sensitive approaches to enterprise development.
∎ Strong team building and interpersonal communication skills to build network among stakeholders.
∎ Excellent time management skills.
∎ Proficient in MS office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook to support effective communication.
∎ Willingness to travel extensively in the zone of influence (ZOI).
∎ Desired Skills and Qualifications:
∎ Record of positive outcomes in applying market systems approach will be an added advantage.
∎ Willingness to pay visits to field, partner organizations and associated stakeholders.
∎ Committed and motivated.
Salary:
∎ This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position with annual salary ranging between BDT 1,273,970 to BDT 1,312,189 per annum.
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ WorldFish's NRS shall receive comprehensive benefits including (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, and pension/ provident fund contribution.
